I am in the panhandle
expect outer bands -- but there was a front to the west that kept pushing it east - never did get the effects
but it's early in the season.

@Musicman well in the panhandle you have a transitional landscape. we actuall have way more 10 feet or more above sea level. I get flooding but it's from the sewers backing up.
same thing with the winds - we get plenty of it but it dies down rapidly as you get further from the coast. still strong enough to blow down trees sitting in wet soil and we have lost a few shingles - but not anything like being at the coast.
so we stay put, we're ready for 72 hours of no services.
we were without power for 12 days when Ivan hit - and it was super hot

@Musicman the key to that is getting the heck out of dodge before everybody else gets the bright idea. when Ivan came and they said it was going to be a back braker I strongly suggested (I hate the word beg) that he get out of town - he ended up in Mississippi and he could have ridden it out - the house didn't sustain damage - but I had to be at work for the duration so I slept better knowing where he was.
