Under Florida's new nickname rules I'd have to get my parent's permission to be called Rob in school.

This country gets sillier and sillier ever day.

Ok....women usually change their name when they marry.

Men named James are typically called Jimmy.....Robert called Bob...John called Johnny....Frederick called Fred or Freddie.

What's the big deal?
@JSul3 Based upon their recent focus, I just have a feeling this is something else around gender issues. Making it not okay to use a nickname that doesn’t "match" one’s birth sex.

@JSul3 ..Johnathon can also be called Jack, like Jack Kennedy, not to be confused with Jackie Kennedy. Lol that must have got confusing at times.

Marge is short for Margaret but also, so is Peggy for some reason. ..

I just thought of something funny that will probably turn this into a very long comment but I'll try to make it short. I was writing a certificate of appreciation up for some private in my platoon who I knew was called Larry. Now I know Larry is short for Lawrence. So I wrote him up as Lawrence. It turns out, he got offended because his name is not lawrence on his birth certificate or in his file which I didn't think to check . Why would I ? Turned out, that his first name is actually just Larry. LOL we had a lot of fun with it for some reason it morphed into everything that we didn't feel like pronouncing was now a Larry. Privates were Larry's, M16 was m Larry teen. Not to be confused with a Larry teen which was a canteen.. LOL first sergeant, first Larry LOL and so on. It lasted a couple months probably with some flare-ups here and there afterwards out in the field. Good times.

RIP CPL LARRY
