Florida decimated again

It must be heartbreaking for residents to have to deal with the constant barrage of Hurricanes.
I wonder why people continue to live in such a storm prone area.
Figures show that Hurricane frequency is rising so will this discourage new residents and maybe influence current residents to move away from this fraught state?
Recorded Hurricanes in the 1700's - 11
1800's - 12
1900's - 20
So far, the 20th century has seen 10? hurricanes and at least 50 tropical storms as well as many Tropical depressions severely affect the Florida Panhandle and surrounds.
If I lived there I would seriously think about moving away from the area.
Is anywhere that is subjected to so much adversity worth living?

One could say the same of the Midwestern States fraught with tornadoes or The West Coast where earthquakes and wildfires rage....

It's pretty expensive to just pack it all up and move away from the place where most of your life took place.

Albeit, Florida is one of those places that seems to actually attract outsiders to move there.

@HikingMan I have family in Louisiana, and they’re also often in the path of hurricanes and floods (one cousin left permanently after Katrina). They thought earthquakes happen here the way floods do there, but so far in my life (knock wood) I’ve only experienced earthquake that damaged my home, in 1989.

@bijouxbroussard My main point is that most people in the US do not have the means or support systems in place to just pack up and move to another "Safer" State.

We get blizzards up here in the NE. They rarely kill anyone outside of a car accident. Most hurricanes that make landfall here aren't all that strong but tend to mostly bring down trees that knock out power and communications. We'll get 3.0 quakes every now and then but aren't over any real epicenters for the most part.

I love New England though at 52 years of age..., I'm really thankful for my snowblower...
