I just bought an Alabama Banjo. What is the first thing I need to know , other than all the open tunings?

I just want to embrace the culture, even though I don't believe I'm in-bred...and I probably don't have to be...-if I could just be like Steve Martin I'd be Happy

I would say the next step after acquiring it would be to dress for the part.

@Dainbramadge I do often where ragged clothes and I don't have nice teeth

@atlantic59 So it's almost like you were born to play that thing. LOL
Is there a diff between a banjo and a Alabamian banjo? 🤔
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout The banjo I bought is called Alabama. I could try and post a picture but I struggle with technology. It's a five string and very heavy with really nice pearl-like inlaid frets,
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@atlantic59 it does look kinda bigger than a normal banjo...

First thing to know: Wait in the woods until some unwary city folk wander into your lair. 🪕

@calicuz why do you think I bought it?😄

Look up flat and scruggs
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@vetguy1991 of course I know Lester and Earl I've loved Bluegrass for decades, but I've never played banjo. Just applying guitar type chords in a four string format, I am reaching a happy state and it comes with a book on banjo chords, so I will will get there

@atlantic59 few come close
