The media always has a bias. In most democracies it has a Left Wing bias, as few democracies have a media with an extremely strong Right Wing bias. The US is an exception, if it can be called a true democracy, as in recent decades it appears to be a nation of two tribes, each violently opposed to one another, defying logic and facts, with both strong Right and Left Wing media protagonists. Consequently in most democracies the media bias will favour the ruling party, if they are Left Wing, and oppose a Right Wing party. In a tilted playing field and a sparsity of facts, it is difficult for the average Joe to dig deep and find the truth behind what the media delivers to us.

The news is there to sell advertising and make money. Best way to sell ads is with a big audience, and best way to get a big audience is with sensationalized horrific stories.

They always make it seem bigger than it is, and good news doesn’t sell ad space 🤷‍♂️

The News portrays what those in power want to masses to see. A truly free press doesn’t exist.
