@Jemimapuddleduck You are right on! He did hang himself.

Matthew 27:3-10

3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

6And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

@SW-User You probably are short on it too. Why don't you read it as

he hung himself to the tree, due to his weight, the rope broke apart. He fell headlong. His body burst open and his intestines spilled out.
@TheOrionbeltseeker YOU ARE CORRECT.

"Falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out."(Acts 1:18)

Here is further discussion from Matthew, verses 27:3-5?
He"hanged himself":"Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself."

The fact that Judas fell"headlong"yet"burst open in the middle"(Acts 1:18) indicates that his body was bloated when he fell, which means that he was already dead. Judas hanged himself on a tree, and eventually the branch or the rope snapped, causing the described in Acts 1 above.

@LadyGrace The people left Judas hanging in the tree because they believed if a body hanged in a tree on the sabbath it was cursed.. The Jews did not want to touch the body of Judas.. So He hung in the tree until his body because decayed and lost it's ability to remain hanging.. That's why his body burst open when it finally fell to the ground.. The Bible even says that the 30 pieces of silver where given to the owner of the field to pay for it.. The 30 pieces where given to Judas for betraying Jesus and even though he threw it on the temple floor the high priests did not accept it and remain Judas property and so was used to purchase the field for Judas..
@Adstar AMEN, BROTHER!! I'm glad somebody knows their Bible here! Right on!!! 💖🤗
