There is no celestial God of any kind in this solar system but there has been, and still are, countless gods all around the planet. Just like in ancient times, they are simply powerful people who control everyone's lives. Today's gods are the national leaders in each country and powerful businessmen and businesswomen. They decisions and whims affect everyone. Look at the dictators around the world and demons like trump, who countless people would actually kiss his ass on live tv. They have the power of life and death over everyone and when their egos get too large they send their sheep off to die in wars and people usually obey without ever asking, "why? I don't even know anyone on the other side so why should I risk y life and limbs just because the local dummy god wants to show how tough he is when he isn't doing any of the real fighting?"
On, on the local level, the head of the family is a minor god because his/her decisions affect the lives of everyone in the family group.
