I Am Christian

There are Americans who claim, they are "just biblical Christians" of no special denomination. They believe that

- Catholicism is satanic
- sacraments are a curse
- only KJV is the real Bible
- the most important Bible book is Revelation
- rapture will happen
- child baptism is wrong because conscious faith must be first
- baptism must be done by complete immersion
- statues are inhabited by evil spirits
- alcohol and tobacco are bad (as if they were Muslims)
- no confession and remission. one time sinned after salvation -> lost
but Sabbath is important although that's a Jewish and no Christian holiday.

What is the name of this "no denomination"? every child has a name.
Thanks in advance.

How do you know Christians like this exist? Sounds like a mashup of beliefs.

I met them online. what different beliefs are mashed up? I don't know features of US denominations very well.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Klesingo: For example, I don't know any real US denominations that think the sacraments are a curse. They all seem to differ on the transmutation of the sacraments, but as a curse? No.

Statues are inhabited by evil spirits? Umm no one thinks that.

Alcohol and Tobacco are bad? I think mot religions believe this to a degree. Its that whole body is a temple idea.

I am not even sure what you mean by the no confession line ...

@Pherick: well, they didn't say actually curse but that it's paganism of Babylon or Nimrod or something.

they believe you must pray a salvation prayer then you are saved, but when you sin again you are lost and go to hell (if I got this stuff right)

I was once taught, when you made a sin, you repent and are forgiven, because we are all sinners.

why do these people who claim to follow Bible make things so complicated? so much perfectionism is just insane and psychological terrorism by creating a burden of guilt.

sounds like Old Southern Baptist, to me.
Klesingo · 61-69, F
@firefall: Thanks that's a good explanation. Is this craziness very common, or are they just a tiny but very loud minority? and how do sound Americans deal with it? must be very annoying. and if this makes an European skeptical if unlimited free speech is really a good idea, they shout "you are all just a bunch of Nazis who don't love our wonderful American freedom" etc. etc.
I thank God for the huge and deep Atlantic Ocean.

@Klesingo: from what I've seen, it's moderately common (maybe 10-15%?)

One reason we had to get out of Arkansas after a few years there was the fact that -every- conversation with someone new always started with them asking, 'What church do you go to'. Kind of stopped things before the conversation started.

@firefall: moderately common? what a burden. I feel with you. from this perspective our many atheistic folks here look much better.

I suggest you find and speak to an Evangelical Christian in your country, who might be better able to answer your questions for you.

Sounds sorta like freewill or church of god so many denominations
Klesingo · 61-69, F
ty that is helpful. here we don't have many different denominations so things like this are confusing for me
Cinderella · 46-50, F
@Klesingo: some also believe woman can't wear pants or cut their hair.
I was in an catholic girl school and I got an overdose of Ave Marias

So this was then the other extreme. But can you tell me the name of this movement I described?
txboyinmidwest · 46-50, M
They are not biblical Christians for sure but maybe hopeless and misguided?
KandiGhostcat · 22-25, F
I don't get this either with people these days.
