I Am Christian

There are Americans who claim, they are "just biblical Christians" of no special denomination. They believe that

- Catholicism is satanic
- sacraments are a curse
- only KJV is the real Bible
- the most important Bible book is Revelation
- rapture will happen
- child baptism is wrong because conscious faith must be first
- baptism must be done by complete immersion
- statues are inhabited by evil spirits
- alcohol and tobacco are bad (as if they were Muslims)
- no confession and remission. one time sinned after salvation -> lost
but Sabbath is important although that's a Jewish and no Christian holiday.

What is the name of this "no denomination"? every child has a name.
Thanks in advance.

sounds like Old Southern Baptist, to me.

so these guys are Baptists but claim to be they are not. why? according to Bible they should speak the truth. and with this bs they teach they make the name of Jesus Christ sound bad.

and all this brainwashing is perfectly legal in the US under the label of religious freedom? wonderful.

I should go to America and create a cartel called "Church of holy drug distribution" and will get away with it with no cent of tax paying 😈

@Klesingo: because if they're "just christians" then implicitly noone else is, PLUS it must be so obvious that their way is the 'only right way', that everyone else is deliberately being evil. Essentially it's an attempt to manipulate the whole argument by preempting any discussion & asserting their superior 'virtue'

Ppl have tried the drug-distribution Church thing, with unsurprisingly little success (look up the American Indian Church for a sincere attempt at it)

@firefall: Thanks that's a good explanation. Is this craziness very common, or are they just a tiny but very loud minority? and how do sound Americans deal with it? must be very annoying. and if this makes an European skeptical if unlimited free speech is really a good idea, they shout "you are all just a bunch of Nazis who don't love our wonderful American freedom" etc. etc.
I thank God for the huge and deep Atlantic Ocean.

@Klesingo: from what I've seen, it's moderately common (maybe 10-15%?)

One reason we had to get out of Arkansas after a few years there was the fact that -every- conversation with someone new always started with them asking, 'What church do you go to'. Kind of stopped things before the conversation started.

@firefall: moderately common? what a burden. I feel with you. from this perspective our many atheistic folks here look much better.
