"overcoming feelings of hurt and rejection in the church?" What immediately comes to mind is a book titled " the 24/7 christian. It is basically a short commentary (in book form) of the epistle of James. You want to know the signs of a true church? Read the book of James (in the bible). This will be a good start. After that, I suggest reading the book of Acts.
