God created MEN, and gave them the gift of being able to CHOOSE for themselves which they will be...devoted to God, and GOOD, or turn their back on God and give themselves over to evil. Herrod CHOSE the latter...and then Mary and Joseph had to RUN and hide themselves.

@Oldanglaisadverbs That scene is an oblique reference to the 4th Commandment =Exodus 34:19-20 (NKJV) =19 “All that open the womb are Mine, and every male firstborn among your livestock, whether ox or sheep. 20 But the firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb. And if you will not redeem him, then you shall break his neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem.
“And none shall appear before Me empty-handed."
