I'm not one to think I'm above of and ridicule people who don't pursue studying

But when you think university degrees are useless and proudly flaunt your bigoted and ignorant views of others, I can't help but think "that explains it".

They're not completely wrong though, they're useless unless you take the time to learn the subjects. Most people do not end up using their degrees.

@MartinTheFirst I don't think knowledge is ever useless even if you don't use it specifically to make money.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Yeah but you have to learn the subject to have knowledge, many dont lol
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst that's on people being lazy, not degrees being useless
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Not really because if someone hires a person with a degree and they're useless then their degree is useless
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst the degree I mean as in the University and the lessons themselves, not the title. If they hire one with the sane degree who's not useless then the same degree is suddenly good?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut well it's important to make that distinction then when you talk to people
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst
But when you think university degrees are useless
idk how much more clearly I could have said that in my post
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut i mean that you probably misunderstand what people talk about when they say degrees are useless because i meet many people who say that but they would never say that the actual school is useless, just that the people coming out are most often useless
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst oh but I was definitely talking about people who genuinely believe school is useless because they were able to have a decent life without it themselves, so apparently for them art degrees or humanities or even business degrees are useless.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut well... art degrees and humanities are kinda... you know.. on the lower end of the spectrum of degrees ... in.. my... humble opinion 👀
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst that's because of the way that you choose to live your life, they are lower for you, in general they're not useless and we shouldn't look down on people who pursue them just because they're not for us.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut i do not look down on anyone ma'am, don't you dare 👀! I just feel a little bad for the people who pursue those degrees and then realize that they don't take you very far in the business world. It happens a lot. Otherwise I was considering an art degree before choosing engineering.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst that's good. It's sad because of the whole system, socio-economic. Again the business world for me is only a very small fraction as to why one should pursue education. Today it's here, tomorrow it's not.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Well it depends on what you go into really, if you get good at computers for example you're pretty much set for as long as computers exist, which is probably until the complete collapse of society. Otherwise I feel yah, follow your heart. I just couldn't follow mine, it was a no-go.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst I hope you get fulfillment nonetheless. Some day you might be able to.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut I've never sought to get fulfillment from work either way, I just want a loving wife and not work on mcdonalds and I'm set.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut What do you want to work with?
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst imagine having to cook trash for mcdonalds instead of all the good stuff you're used to making 😬 yeah that'd be a waste
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst I like working with patients honestly, I want something that's as close to people as possible. I love having to plan people's care holistically.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Oh right! 🤗
