Are The Dead Aware Of How Long They've Been Dead? And Are They Aware That They Are Dead?
Let's let the Bible answer that question?
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 and verse 10 says - "For the living know that they will [eventually] die, but the dead know NOTHING at all, nor do they have any more reward because [eventually] all memory of them is forgotten. Also, their love, and their hate and their jealousy has already perished, and they no longer have any share in what is done under the sun."
Verse 10 says: "Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor wisdom in the Grave, where you are going."
What are these verses saying to us? They are telling us that the dead are not aware of anything that the living is doing or engaged in under the sun or [moon]. They cannot harm us, help us, love us, warn us or come to us in any shape or form to converse with us. Our dead loved ones have simply turned into the elements of the earth, they have become dust, and non-existent until God resurrects him or her back to life. Our dead loved ones were not aware and are not aware that we attended their funeral and they were not looking down seeing us crying over their casket and gravesite.
Verse 10 tells us that while we're alive do with all our might whatever we put our hand to, because when we die there will be no mental, emotional, spiritual, no thinking or planning or knowledge in the Grave. No kind of activity exist in death. So there will be no finishing up or completing of plans. The dead, people who were good before they died are not in heaven and the people who were bad before they died are not burning in hell or being tormented.
