The Bible is not wrong.

@Budwick
Genesis got it wrong. The earth isn’t a fixed flat disc with a crystal dome over it. The sun and the moon are not the same size, and do not move above the earth , inside the dome. Space is not water, and the stars are not just little dots of light.
You figure god would know better.
You can’t trust the bible.

@DocSavage And remember that water does 'occupy' space. Each one of us is about 80 percent water, and each one of us occupies space. But what we don't know is whether or not the universe as we understand it is itself one giant 'experiment' by an entity much larger than what religions call 'god'. The universe itself might be inside an enclosure we have never discovered and don't yet know about. We could all be a big holographic projection. ;-) No Jesus effing Christ superstar needed to conceptualise that.

The way you think, any word in the bible is subject to a wide and wild set of interpretation. Simple fact is we have science today. They didn’t. We actually can prove what the bible got wrong. Sorry but god’s “word” is not the same as reality. No matter how you twist it.

@DocSavage I'm not backing up the bible at all - in fact I'm ripping the bullshit and hypocrisy of religions especially so-called 'Christian' ones to shreds.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@zonavar68 Imagine that there are as many universes as there are atoms in our observable universe. After all, we have no idea what the universe is or how large space is. It's like walking outside and looking at the trees and the grass and the flowers and the weeds. Imagine each blade of grass and each tree leaf as a separate universe and look at the distances between the trees and the lawns and imagine how many there are on Earth. Now imagine the cosmos as being a gazillion gazillion gazillion times that size.

Remember, one hundred years ago smart people thought that the universe was just the size of the visible stars they could see in the night sky without telescopes. We now know that the pond is a lot larger but it could be like comparing a bathtub to the Pacific Ocean.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@DocSavage The Bible doesn't say any of those things.
DocSavage · M
@Budwick
Yeah it does. This was the Popular model of what the universe supposed to look like back in those times. God created it, so you would think he’d know better. Enoch himself said he personally talked with stars, remember. This is what they believed.

@DocSavage That's a load of bollocks, but so it everything about religion.
DocSavage · M
@zonavar68
Don’t blame me, I didn’t write the fucking book.

Not Biblical
DocSavage · M
@Budwick
It’s in there. Product of the times. Denying it won’t change it.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@DocSavage
Denying it won’t change it.

Lying about it doesn't prove your point.
DocSavage · M
@Budwick
Take another look Mastermind. Notice that little notation on the bottom about “Genesis”
If you’re referring to that, then it’s not me that’s lying. You probably have a copy somewhere collecting dust. Why don’t you open it up and actually read it for once. Don’t blame me, just because the truth hurts.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@DocSavage Poor Doc - short term memory problems. Remember what you wrote and what I responded to?

No? I'll remind you. What you said Genesis said and what it says are not the same.

Genesis got it wrong. The earth isn’t a fixed flat disc with a crystal dome over it. The sun and the moon are not the same size, and do not move above the earth , inside the dome. Space is not water, and the stars are not just little dots of light.

I don't care much for liars and blasphemers.
DocSavage · M
@Budwick
I don't care much for liars and blasphemers.

And what has that got to do with me ? Gave you chapter and verse. You don’t like it, complain to the god you think wrote it. Or Learn to accept the fact that it wasn’t god.
All I did was go into a bit more detail . Doesn’t change the description in genesis, and the bible still got it wrong.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@DocSavage It's almost a complete waste of time to discuss the ancient Middle Eastern Jewish religious fairy tale with people who get their beliefs from silly Hollywood movies and con men preachers. If they ever read the damn thing and comprehended what they read and still wanted to believe it, that would be a different thing.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Budwick
The Bible is not wrong.

So, since the Bible is not wrong, you are in complete agreement with this passage=

2 Esdras 6:55-59 (Common English Bible)
55 “I have said all these things before you, Lord, because you have said that you created the oldest age[a] for our sake. 56 You have said that the other nations born of Adam are nothing, that they are like spit, and you have compared their abundance to a drop from a pitcher. 57 But look now, Lord! These nations that are valued as nothing rule over us and devour us, 58 while we, your people, whom you have called your oldest offspring, your one and only child, those who are zealous for you, your dearest ones, are handed over to them. 59 If the world was created for our sake, why don’t we possess our world as an inheritance? How long will this situation last?”
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Diotrephes Esdras ? Never heard of it.
