Do you think it was awkward when Darwin met God?

Top | New | Old
My opinion is No. I haven’t discussed it with either of them.

He simply published his observations....felt bad that peoples faith might be affected..there can't be two truths in the observable Universe
Not akward but terrifying, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God, He is a consuming fire Hebrews 12:29.

Not because of his theory, but because he didn't believe on Christ.

but I don't believe righteous people of different faiths will face eternal damnation.

That was and can be a struggle but we have to go back to ourselves here- we are certainly not worthy of salvation and we have no righteousness of our own- original sin makes that impossible.

my experience with evangelicals, charismatics and fundamentalists have shown me differently.

You're getting onto a certain group here- it's probably easiest to say Christian Nationalists. They generally produce false teachings and act like Trump's government is heaven itself.

Possibly, but we're all sinners. Faithful or not.
A proclamation of Faith must be backed by deeds too. Otherwise people sin all week, go to church and repeat.

Modern day idolaters.

We all are sinners indeed and that's why we're not worthy.

As for the above that can be a normal struggle with sin or a false conversion- it would take an essay to discern.

No. (That's what I think).
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
No.
Why would it be?
I know Evangelicals think religion and science are at odds, but the Big Bang for example was theorized by a Catholic Priest.
Lostpoet · M
@basilfawlty89 Good point and didn't a Monk come up with the Punnett square?

And Charles Darwin was religious until his later years.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Lostpoet indeed. Most of us Catholics are not against science and do not deny science

@Adstar Yes, you feel a fool when the other person doesn't turn up.

@Adstar I'm open to the possibility, but as yet there's ever been any credible evidence.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
Not any more so than it would be for anyone else.
zeggle · 61-69, M
The question of whether it was awkward for Darwin to meet God is subjective.
Darwin followed the evidence. Before genetics and DNA were known. If there was evidence for a god, it would be impossible to ignore.
