@Mrnotsonew I agree. Thank you.

May your son and his dear friend feel the love behind your words, and may your family continue to grow together.
Sharada · FNew
@Explorer thank you.
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
If hes a true Christian he'll forgive you and love you
Sharada · FNew
@TheWildEcho I really hope he forgives me fully. I know, it is not easy for him either. I didn’t handle it well initially. In fact I was terrible.
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@Sharada praying for your total reconciliation
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
It’s NEVER too late to repair a relationship and am sure your son will forgive you
Sharada · FNew
@Strictmichael75 thank you. I hope so too.
I'm not for religions but your growth in accepting another's personal choice is admirable.
Sharada · FNew
@froggtongue Thank you for your kind words.

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

@BlueSkyKing I understand that people have very different views about God, religions and spiritual paths. I am totally ignorant about Old Testament, however my son now probably believe in it. He is a practising Christian. I don’t know what he believes, however he seems to have moved away from the spiritual path where he grew up. I am now at peace with whatever it is.
@Sharada My disbelief took decades. You don’t hear about god supporting slavery at church.
Sharada · FNew
@BlueSkyKing I am sorry to hear that.

Among other things, being a parent is a long path to understanding
Sharada · FNew
@Rambler Thank you ❤. Being a parent truly is a lifelong journey of learning, understanding, and letting go of our own expectations. I was controlled by my own expectations about my son and knowingly or unknowingly I ended up controlling his choices. Sometimes life teaches us what fear and differences cannot. I’m grateful for the lessons this journey has brought me and in this process I ended up hurting others, which I regret.
Would you have said the same if he suddenly decided to become gay or something else?
@froggtongue

Who are you? 🤔
Sharada · FNew
@Royricky09 I may not always understand or agree with his choices, but he is my son, and I will always choose to love and respect him, irrespective of his choices.
Asking for forgiveness is simply my way of expressing what is in my heart and taking responsibility for the times I may have hurt him by not understanding or supporting him during some of his toughest moments. It was not easy for me to seek forgiveness, but with time, I have learned to make peace with the things I cannot control.

My grandson has now turned three, and he has been one of the sources of this change in me. It still hurts that my son chooses not to visit our home, and that my grandson has never seen his grandparents' home. As a mother and grandmother, those are things that naturally bring sadness to my heart. But I have also learned that there are things we simply cannot control.

Our spiritual paths are different. We have a puja room in our home where Idols are kept, and I understand that, according to my son and his family's spiritual beliefs, this is something they prefer to avoid. I respect their choice and that doesn’t stop me from joining for Christmas celebrations at their home.

Of course, I wish with all my heart that one day my grandchildren could celebrate our festivals with us, experience the traditions I grew up with, and create those memories together. But love sometimes means letting go of what we wish for and respecting the choices others make.

It is festival season for us, and in my imagination, I can still picture my little grandson making Ganesha idols. That thought brings both a smile and a little ache to my heart. ❤
@Sharada I know it's festival...

Parents aren't supposed to ask for forgiveness for their kids mistakes.

Like I mentioned before it's not your fault.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Sounds like you have made your peace..a good place to be in.... And as you say, the are many paths through life ..
Sharada · FNew
@Convivial it was indeed hard. At that time it felt embarrassing to witness my son reject his spiritual path. However, at present he is happy with his choice and that’s all it matters.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Sharada being on a path is the main thing...
Sharada · FNew
@Convivial I agree
Amish · 22-25, M
Choice is one thing but brainwashing into religious conversions are on the rise.To tell someone else what they believe is not true is not so kind. That’s manipulation or spiritual abuse.
Sharada · FNew
@Amish A person’s faith should ultimately be their own choice. I agree that no one should be manipulated, and at the same time no one should be controlled as well.
