Where My Soul Finds Home [Part 1] - [John 14:2]

John 14:2 [NLT] says this: “There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you.”
[When My Soul Starts Reaching for Home]
This is one of the moments when my spirit starts reaching for something deeper. A place where my thoughts settle, my heart feels understood, the noise of life finally fades into something gentle. It is in that moment where I find myself talking to God, not with fancy words, but with the kind of honesty that comes from longing.
“Sovereign Lord, Heavenly Father…where does my soul belong?” I ask earnestly in prayer. It’s a question I’ve whispered more times than I can count. Yet every time I return to John 14:2, something inside me softens. Something exhales, something feels held. Jesus’ words remind me that I’m not wandering without direction. I’m being led towards a place He prepared with intention; a place where my soul can really breathe.

[Talking to God About the Place He Prepared]
When Jesus says He’s preparing a place for me, I don’t quite imagine a mansion with gold gates as some have described in my youth at one point or another. I imagine something deeply personal; something crafted with His tenderness and His understanding of who I am. Sometimes, I share with God my thoughts and ideas of this prepared place!
“Sovereign Lord, if you have prepared a place for me, a home for my soul, I imagine it looking like peace.”
In my mind, that home looks like a sanctuary made of God’s crafted beauty:
- Clear Quartz walls reflecting His Light
- Soft Amethyst tones calming my Mind
- Emerald Hues reminding me of Restoration and New Life
- Gentle Waters flowing nearby, symbolizing Purity and Renewal
- Lush Green vegetation that feels alive with His presence
No Mystics nor Witchcraft. Just Majestic; the kind of beauty only God can create. A place where my soul can finally exhale.

[Rooms That Hold My Story]
As I talk with God, I imagine walking through rooms that hold pieces of my journey. Not the polished version, but the real and authentic one.
A room of rest, where He quiets the noise in my mind. A room of healing, where old wounds lose their sting. A room of joy, where laughter feels natural again. A room of clarity, where purpose isn’t something I chase…it’s something He reveals.
And I tell Him: “Sovereign Lord, O God, thank you for knowing me well enough to prepare spaces that match my story, my journey, your image within me, your purpose for me!”
These rooms feel intentional, almost as like God whispering in my ears, “I see you, I know you. I made a space for you.”
Again, I’m not sharing this to speak for anyone else but for myself. Just to open the door to what God has been showing me in earnest prayer and meditation. Maybe someone reading this will find their own room in His presence too!

[A Heaven That Feels Like Peace]
When I picture Heaven, I don’t see chaos or confusion. I see tranquility…a spiritual realm filled with water that reflect God’s glory, lush green symbolizing life, and quiet woods that feel like a sanctuary.
A place where intrusive thoughts don’t exist; not because God forces silence, but because my mind is finally made to be whole.
A place where desires aren’t conflicted. Where my heart isn’t divided nor where my soul isn’t restless. Not robotic in any shape or form, but a place of full restoration.
And sometimes I share with God this: “Sovereign Lord, O God, if this is what you meant by ‘home’, then I am grateful you thought of me.”

[Finding Purpose, Love, and Ease of Mind]
Talking with God about this “home” he prepares has changed how I walk through life in the now. It reminds me that:
I am not lost.
I am not overlooked.
I am not wandering without direction.
It reminds me that purpose unfolds gently, not forcefully. That peace is possible, even in a loud world. That love is abundant in the space that God prepares.
And while I’m only speaking from my own journey, I hope that anyone reading feels invited to reflect on their own. To ask God what “home” looks like for their soul, and to listen for His answer.
In the Father’s house, my heart has a home, and yours can too! Amen xoxo
