Christingle
It was our Christingle service this morning. This is a Christmas tradition that's very common in churches in the UK. It's a great way of sharing Jesus so I always try to invite friends and family.
The Christingle orange symbolises the world. you can see there is a red ribbon wrapped around the orange.
The ribbon symbolises the blood of Jesus and the free gift of salvation we have been given through Jesus' death on the cross. It reaches all the way around the world without beginning or end and it's enough to cover everyone if you choose to accept.
Four cocktail sticks are filled with sweets. They represent the four seasons and God's provision of good things we have throughout the year but also the seasons of our lives. We can be reminded that when there's darkness or pain in one season of our lives, another season will follow. It won't be this way forever.
Lastly the candle at the centre of the orange world represents Jesus. He is light of the world. Jesus brings love, forgiveness and hope to the world.
