Tony Benn wasn't a Christian. He was raised Christian but didn't accept that Jesus was God, only a prophet.

@PatientlyWaiting25 devoted Christian and Jesus's teachings made a massive impact on him
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@Guitarman123 Later in life he identified himself as being "Christian Agnostic" meaning he doubted the existence of God. That isn't a Christian, although I'm sure Jesus' teachings did have a massive impact on him and shape his political beliefs.

@PatientlyWaiting25 they're people who identify as Christian atheists. Fully embrace jesus and his teachings but dont believe in the metaphysical aspects of the bible. Fair enough really. Im a socialist and don't believe in every aspect
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@Guitarman123 No! Not fair enough! The Bible clearly says that Jesus is God. Jesus himself said so many things that implied his deity. That's why so many people tried to kill him. There is absolutely no way you can deny the deity of Jesus if you really read your Bible. Start with the book of John. If you read just this book alone, you can't miss who he is.
Out of all the political ideologies, socialism is without doubt, closest in alignment to the teachings of Christ. I am also a socialist but the main question is not where you put your cross but, who do you believe Jesus is? Do you accept his gift of salvation and do you want to have a personal relationship with him? I'm not sure you can if you don't believe he is God.

@PatientlyWaiting25 im an athiest personally and have no time for religion. But i do support some of his practical teachings

@PatientlyWaiting25 In ancient times anyone could be a god. The Roman emperor Hadrian made his boyfriend lover a god.

If Jesus was God he was lousy since he never did anything godly. Moses was just a conman but he was a far better God than Jesus was. He actually accomplished a lot of things. Jesus was just a self-admitted glutton and wino who disgusted his own family members and was a hypocrite, which led to his death.

@Guitarman123 what is it about "religion" that you have no time for? You obviously identify that Jesus was special, otherwise you wouldn't see value in his teachings?
Guitarman123 · 36-40, M
@PatientlyWaiting25 i find him interesting, not special. Religion pacifies and brainwashes
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@Guitarman123 well I wouldn't agree with that. People have achieved amazing things in the name of Jesus.
Guitarman123 · 36-40, M
@PatientlyWaiting25 sure they have. Other's have achieved amazing things without jesus
