Mark 2: 13-17 Jesus calls Levi

What stuck out to me most about Jesus in these passages is that Jesus sat not only with his disciples but also the tax collectors and the sinners. When the Pharisees saw this they said amongst themselves 16 ' Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?'. When Jesus heard them he said to them 17 ''Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick, I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
He is not looking for us to be perfect. He is looking for us to come to him just as we are. I often have felt that I am not worthy to come before him because of something I have done wrong. But thankyou Jesus for accepting me just as I am. For giving me and others like me your gift of healing and the grace that comes from your father God. Amen.

I loved this part best, of your post...

When Jesus heard them he said to them 17 ''Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick, I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

Yes, this means there are those who think they don't need God, when they do and we all do. But some think they are too righteous and good and think they don't need God. Those are not open to hearing the Holy Spirit speak to their hearts. That's why it's more difficult for them to be saved. But Jesus said it's easier for those who will receive his words and realize they do need him. They do take responsibility for their own actions.

A beautiful verse.

I agree, he takes us as is.

Very hard to get over the shame.

Love the new Testament.
@Umile This is where Christians need to start and spend most of their time.

@SomeMichGuy Truth. I'm talking, but I'm not even done with Genesis.

@Umile yes it is hard.

I read somewhere that "Grace is not a reward for the deserving, but a gift for those who ask humbly" and it has stuck with me.

@zentic thats a good saying
@zentic A great summary.
Amen, yes.

And it's amazing experiencing his unconditional love and patience, transforming us to become more like him.

Even I, who think he was just a dude trying to get the Jewish people to be nicer to each other, feel like this is the biblical example we could all stand to follow. Be accepting, be loving, and in doing so, overcome the hatred of others.

@LordShadowfire yes we should be.
