Just a widow too soon...

I was married for 25 years till death do us part. I miss my best friend! Sometimes the loneliness is overwhelming. I know he is in a better place. I am meant to be where i am. My story is not over. Turn the page... so ready to write the next chapter.
Can anyone relate?
carpediem · 61-69, M
So sorry for you. I can absolutely relate. Yesterday was my 44th anniversary, but my wife as of a week ago is in a care home for ALZ sufferers.

Yes I can relate.
MommyAnnie · 51-55, F
I can relate

Even though I am divorced, the ex and I were together for 25 years. The memories I have of our early days, and our happy days together, are far more important to me than I would like. I still have dreams of him at times. The last one was so simple. We were in our living room together, and he was vacuuming...(which never happened when I was with him)...and I told him I was happy that he had found someone else.

In your case, your spouse was taken too soon. I'm glad you know he is in a better place. I have another friend now, whom I met 12 years ago, but he is dying...we will probably have two more years of annoying the hell out of each other...🤣🤣🤣...and then I will have to learn what you already know...how to deal with having no one at all. 🤗🤗🤗

Sorry for your loss. I hope you write a happier next chapter in your life.
No, and yes. My heart never left my last partner entirely, even despite me leaving. I so wanted a new chapter in my life when I found out her father had cancer. We might as well have been together again for how I cared for her in that time

@thewindupbirdchronicles
I agree that grief can come in many forms...a loss is a loss. Any severed relationship is a loss.
@tmmaier And it can become tangled in ways we never anticpate.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Yes. It's like turning the page and it's completely blank :( as is the next page and the next. Like: What the hell do I do now? What I really want to do is lto just lock myself in my room and cry. Just start writing, and be prepared to rip out what you write, and start over and over.

God bless you.
tmmaier · 51-55, F
@Heartlander thank you so much for your kind words and support. I know it is a difficult path to discovery. The long quiet nights are hardest to bare sometimes.
I am prepared to write what God has planned...even if i have to start over and over.

Thank you so much! God bless you as well friend!

you're right, you're meant to be where you are. and you're meant to go on to the next stage, whatever that may be. life is long and full of wonder.
tmmaier · 51-55, F
@Rambler Indeed...just trying to pray through some of the long lonely hours until I find my way and purpose.
Rambler · 61-69, M
@tmmaier ...and you will

Yes I can. You can get enveloped in pain unless you can work yourself out of it. I have been married, even though that page has been ripped out I can replace it with things that I can benefit from
Carissimi · F
I relate except I haven’t started the next chapter because there isn’t one.

I’m sorry for you loss.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
I am sorry for your loss
Loneliness is terrible
Sending you hugs 🤗
tmmaier · 51-55, F
@Strictmichael75
Thank you. I hate getting condolences...they make me feel uncomfortable. I was looking more for others who can relate.
I think that most can relate to loss to some degree...if others can relate i am not so lonely.

I am sure the next chapter will be wonderful.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
I can't say that I lost a spouse but I did lose a son. My mother became a widow after 26 years of marriage. She lived a very full 39 years after her loss. She never married although she did have boyfriends and she traveled the world. By sea and by air. In her later years she was convinced that her husband (my dad) was having an affair because he never came home at night.
Enjoy the rest of life....one life for all

So very sorry. Good that you are moving forward.
Jake966 · 56-60, M
My dad lost my mom after 20yrs and it was plain to see they were so close due to his grieving her death but the problem was that after he started his new chapter he was looking for a replacement for her not another partner in life
tmmaier · 51-55, F
@Jake966 definitely not looking for a replacement. I am looking to move forward to a brand new chapter.
Jake966 · 56-60, M
@tmmaier that’s the way to look at it
Goodson · 51-55, M
I can sympathize I have not been married yet as like all truly dangerous beasts when I do mate it will be for life I have the best little blue pitbull type dog in the world and she is reaching the end of her road and I am not even knowing how I am gonna deal with losing her and her being gone
tmmaier · 51-55, F
Dogs are definitely members of the family too. I rescued a bestie pup to curb my loneliness. Perhaps you could get a new rescue now before the loss to help out.. nothing will completely alleviate the pain from the loss so don't think of it as a replacement but an adequate distraction.
Mardrae · F
Yep! I’m 58 and have been widowed almost 7 years now. I started attempting to date a couple of years after my husband died. It’s almost impossible to find someone at my age and I am used to being alone now and most of the time I enjoy it.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
So sorry for your loss
It’s difficult but you need to keep moving forward
You have to live your life
Maybe meet another man
Your husband will always be with you
So live!
TiHAdvocate · 46-50, M
Yes, I lost her to an aggressive form of breast cancer. We lived the TiH lifestyle our entire life together.
tmmaier · 51-55, F

We must remember that to be alive is to be mortal. God loves us, and uses what we think is bad to do good.
