I have litterally been asked, and my dad also, " well if you don't believe in god why arent you stealing and murdering people?". I have even argued that only atheists can have true morals because when an atheist acts morally there is a better chance that he acts this way simply because its what he actually wants to do (although he still could be doing it to look good or out of fear of autority). if someone acts moral to please god, to avoid hell or to get some kind of reward in this life or the other can he really say that he has true compassion and love for his fellow man ?
