Why do people worship their favorite imaginary deity out of fear?

The Bible has lots of stories where people were forced to worship the God character out of fear. They were frightened that he would kill them if they didn't comply with his demands to be worshiped. He did kill hordes of people who rejected his demands and he is always threatening to kill all of humanity unless people cater to his every whim.

Are you fearful of incurring his wrath?

It's always a good laugh to read how people whine about how bad the Nazis were when Americans used to put front page notices in the newspapers about how they were going to lynch a Black guy at a certain time and place so that thousands could attend and not one American of any stripe tried to prevent it.
@Diotrephes Oh, yeah. This country was not innocent. But you try to teach school kids about that time in history, and you're accused of indoctrinating them with that commie lefty CRT stuff.

Here in Western Canada the biggest funeral for years was the funeral of a black man that died falling off a horse.

@LordShadowfire Here are some typical examples =

@Diotrephes My point with my post about Hitler is to not repeat History. It was Christians who complained about slavery and did somethng about it. Yes many call themselves Christian but Jesus says that [c=BF0000]"these are those who love me who keep my commandments"[/c] Love God and treat people the way you want to be treated yoursel.

@Carazaa The Jesus character cursed people so why shouldn't he also be cursed at? And he was always putting himself on a pinnacle just on his own say-so. He never did anything godly to show that he had been deputized. Compare his actions to guys like Moses and Elijah. They were always pulling off large-scale "miracles" while Jesus hardly made a ripple. He comes across as a trump character, all mouth and no action.

@Diotrephes Oh yeah Jesus never did anything good... except he raised Lazarus from the dead when he was rotting away after 4 days, he healed the leper, the blind, forgives us for our sins, and was tortured so we can go to heaven. He has not right to curse us if we are hateful hypocrites, raping, stealing, and murdering. What kind of logic is that... We need to be grateful to him for eternity. We do not deserve heaven. We have not earned it!!! We all deserve hell!

@Carazaa You are too hard on yourself. Show yourself some kindness. I'll give you my place in heaven so you will have two.

Deuteronomy 23:3 = 'No Ammonite or Moabite may be admitted to the congregation of Yahweh.'

How long was Jesus unclean after touching Lazarus' corpse?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes Lazarus was alive when Jesus touched him.

@Diotrephes
You are willing to forfeit your place in heaven so I can have two? Wow that is sweet of you! But there are three problems with that aren't there?

whosoever believes on Jesus will have everlasting life.

I don't remember reading that Jesus was ever unclean except when he took our shame for three days.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Carazaa I was thinking about Numbers 19:11 (CEB) =
"Contact with a dead body
The person who touches the dead body of any human will be unclean for seven days."
@Carazaa I still haven't seen you or any other Christian provide evidence that there's any such place as heaven.
Carazaa · F
@LordShadowfire OK, Jesus said I go and prepare a place for you, and where I go you will go too.
In Revelation it says He will make a new heaven and a new earth where there are no more tears.
@Carazaa And I'm waiting for you to prove that a man named Jesus said those words.

@LordShadowfire Notice that the claim is based on statements by unknown characters who may not even have existed. It has as much credibility as dialogue from a story about King Arthur or StarTrek.
@Diotrephes Exactly my point.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire The name Jesus didn't even exist until around 1630 A.D.
