Why do people worship their favorite imaginary deity out of fear?

The Bible has lots of stories where people were forced to worship the God character out of fear. They were frightened that he would kill them if they didn't comply with his demands to be worshiped. He did kill hordes of people who rejected his demands and he is always threatening to kill all of humanity unless people cater to his every whim.

Are you fearful of incurring his wrath?

If there were not some hell for people to go to when they die, religion would have went out of business overnight.

@CestManan some philosophers think religion came about because there were no cops and needed a scary after life to get them in line out else their neighbor would keep hitting on their old lady

@kentex35 It makes sense. Kind of strange how people just believed it though.

@CestManan little education equals more mind control to someone else
@kentex35
religion is like the fingers on a hand they are all different but still lead to the same place
I disagree. The notion that "all paths lead to the same place" is one of the devil's lies. if I want to go to New York, I'm not going to travel south. Man can say anything, but Jesus said, not all paths lead to heaven. If that were true, then everyone would go to heaven and that's not going to happen, until their sins have been forgiven by Jesus, and they are in right standing with God the Father once again. All paths do NOT lead to heaven. God's Word is very clear that those who try to earn their way to Heaven by good deeds, won't make it.

@LadyGrace You can be a rotten SOB and still end up in "heaven" according to the biblical fairy tale. The problem is that you may not get into the giant bejeweled golden cube called New Jerusalem but kept outside the wall.

Review Revelation 21:27 (ERV) = "23 The city did not need the sun or the moon to shine on it. The glory of God gave the city light. The Lamb was the city’s lamp.

24 The peoples of the world will walk by the light given by the Lamb. The rulers of the earth will bring their glory into the city. 25 The city’s gates will never close on any day, because there is no night there. 26 The greatness and the honor of the nations will be brought into the city. 27 Nothing unclean will ever enter the city. No one who does shameful things or tells lies will ever enter the city. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life will enter the city."

&
Revelation 22:14-15 (ERV) = "14 “Great blessings belong to those who have washed their robes. They will have the right to eat the food from the tree of life. They can go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside the city are all those who live like dogs—those who do evil magic, those who sin sexually, those who murder, those who worship idols, and those who love to lie and pretend to be good."
@Diotrephes Those verses you quoted, mean nothing, the way you talk about God and talk down to Christians. I have zero respect for you. Even your title mocks God and Christians. Everywhere I see you go I see you mocking Christians. You have a misconception and hateful attitude about God. He's nothing the way you make him out and nobody has to miss heaven. Not one person. We all have an equal opportunity to be saved from the condemnation sin placed on us. Nobody has to be jealous of anybody else because God loves us all the same and he holds no one above the other.

@LadyGrace So, you are calling your favorite character a liar =

Matthew 15:24 (NKJV) = 24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Matthew 19:28 (NKJV) = 28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

@Diotrephes

You're boring.
@CestManan Religion would, but not hell. Religion has nothing to do with salvation. Jesus didn't die for certain religions or denominations around the world. He died to save the world from the condemnation sin placed on us. That's something religions can't do. Religion did not die in the cross for our sins. Jesus did.

@LadyGrace I would love to learn your techniques for being a more convincing and entertaining writer. Will you be willing to share your knowledge with me? We can all use some good teachers.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@LadyGrace It sure would be convincing if the Jesus character was still wiggling on the cross after 2,000 years. After all, that is only about 2 days in God time, right?

Don't worry. You'll be convinced of Jesus' existence one day. Then we'll see who wiggles.

@LadyGrace Just remember, when the Jesus character returns he will be a theocratic dictator who will rule with an iron rod. So, if you think the Taliban is mean you sure won't like him. And then he will kill all life and destroy the planet. He's not a nice guy which is why everyone will curse him night and day. You might learn some new curse phrases in a lot of different languages.
@Diotrephes I think you need to go back to reading your Bible, that you say you know. In the first few seconds of conversation with you, I've learned all you know, which is nothing.

@LadyGrace
I think you need to go back to reading your Bible, that you say you know. 🤣😂😂🤣 in the first few seconds of conversation with you, I've learned all you know, which is nothing.
I was hoping that I wouldn't be a failure but if that is the way you see me go forth with a beaming smile and a happy and joyful heart.

2 Timothy 2:23 (NKJV) ="But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife."

1 Corinthians 14:38 (NKJV) = "But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant."
