I don't understand Christianity

- The bible is 2000 years old and has been rewritten and re-interpreted multiple times but people still take it so literally
- Jesus was around just over 2000 years ago, so did everyone before then who didn't know about this religion go straight to hell?
- What about people who don't accept jesus into their lives because they havn't heard much about Christianity or grew up in a different religion? Do they deserve an eternity in hell?
- If you are Christian, why? And are you open to other truths? Or do you believe the bible is the only truth?

Why is it when God is mentioned everyone who doesn't believe has to act like a two year old throwing their toys out of the pram. They want to insult everyone who believes and change their minds. It makes me laugh. I bet if us believers insulted their religion of sex they wouldn't like it too much. Yet so many are so quick to air their dirty laundry here I've seen it. I've had many come to my inbox and try to steer conversation in that sexual direction because I'm a woman. We are just minding our own business worshipping the Lord. Whilst they try to push their disgusting habits all over this website. Really who is worse?

@RubiesandButterflies I understand your point of view, I suppose I sound a bit nieve because I had someone who was close to me become a born again Christian, he told me I was going to hell and was trying to get me to accept jesus. He really confused me and made me feel really unsure about everything, I asked for a sign and didnt receive one. That religion doesnt resonate with me and it simply doesnt make sense. He was really intense about it and took it all so seriously.

@heyitsemma I understand some Christians can be intense and over bearing simply because they are people. People can have different personalities and he was obviously over excited and over bearing. What is the important thing to remember is that whilst some are like this some are not. That it's not the belief system at fault but rather the person conveying its message. He did a poor job of doing so. It's hardly going to make you want to believe telling you you will go to hell otherwise and forcing things on you. I would suggest that anyone interested in God look up verses about God's love online and read the gospels first to understand about Jesus and his message. Rather than spouting hell fire and damnation.

@RubiesandButterflies Because this life isn’t a dress rehearsal. To have a significant portion of humanity to be bound by a silly Bronze Age superstition is insane. To recognize the incessant wars and murder committed in the name if a non-existent entity is to see that your childish delusion is not harmless.

Religion is no more rational that the belief in Santa or the Easter Bunny. It’s an insult to human reason.
RubiesandButterflies · 51-55, F
@redredred but that just your opinion not mine. I will continue to believe no matter what you say so you are wasting your time.
redredred · M
@RubiesandButterflies Your opinion is based on a hopeful fantasy, mine on reason. There’s a critical difference. Your idea requires proof since you posit that there are invisible forces at work while mine relies on visible, testable phenomena. There’s a critical difference.
RubiesandButterflies · 51-55, F
@redredred actually I have seen and experienced demons so it's not just fantasy so I have had proof. There are many sightings of things that cannot be explained too. Some with video evidence. Have a look at skinwalker ranch for example. It's not my problem if you are too closed minded to see.
redredred · M
@RubiesandButterflies Please provide proof that your god exists, proof at least as good as that required by traffic court.
Carazaa · F
@redredred All the people that saw Christ raised from the dead and wrote it down, and died for witnessing. That stands up in any court!
redredred · M
@Carazaa No really, there’s no real Roman record of Jesus even existing and the first, earliest gospel was written 80 years after the crucifixion by someone who wasn’t even born when the crucifixion was supposed to take place.
Carazaa · F
@redredred There are many sources that prove Jesus did what the apostles witnessed and they weren't Christians.

But the most proof is that the people who saw Jesus miracles and saw him rise from the dead were killed for witnessing that he rose from the dead.

We have 500 eye witness accounts and many who wrote it down too, they are in the Bible.

If I wrote about my life 50 years ago in my childhood but haven't published it yet or my kids will publish it, that doesn't mean I am lying. I am telling the truth.

The biggest proof are the apostles, they did NOT believe Jesus until he rose from the grave. It took them 40 days of him convincing them and then he went up in the clouds!

redredred · M
@Carazaa the first gospel was written 80 years after the supposed crucifixion. There are no written eye witness accounts. None.
Carazaa · F
@redredred 500 eye witness accounts! Many were killed for witnessing, and many wrote down what they saw. The apostles wrote it down!
redredred · M
@Carazaa They we’re illiterate fishermen and laborers. Matthew could keep accounts but the rest were unschooled. They railed against the scribes. Scribes were people who could read and write. Get your facts straight.
Carazaa · F
@redredred Paul was highly educated, and Luke was very educated too, a physician, Paul killed Christians before he was saved and then preached the gospel after Jesus changed his heart. God changes us forever praise God 🙂
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Carazaa How could the Apostles write down anything when they weren't there when most of the events took place?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Paul never killed any Christians because they didn't exist when Paul was supposedly killing people. Saul (Paul) and Barnabas created Christianity.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@redredred You should know by now that you could walk on the Sun eating ice cream before some people get their facts straight.
Carazaa · F
@Diotrephes They were all there!
Carazaa · F
@Diotrephes Paul turned in Christians because he hated them and he watched Stephen be stoned to death while Stephen said "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!" That was such a powerful experience for Paul that it probably was a huge witness for him about the POWER of God in peoples lives. He was saved shortly thereafter.
Carazaa · F
@Diotrephes Are you kidding? Why are you so mean? I am blocking you. You are very disrespectful to me.
Carazaa · F
@Diotrephes treat people the way you want to be treated! Don't talk behind their backs!
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Carazaa I enjoy discussions with you but if you block me that is your choice. It is difficult for me to buy into people's obvious delusions without commenting on them. It's nothing personal.
@heyitsemma I am so sorry you experienced this. That is terrible way to tell people about Jesus who loves them so much. That's just not right. I don't understand that, either.

@redredred The first gospel was NOT written 80 years after the crucifixion.

Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy were written by Moses - 1400 B.C. B.C. means"before Christ"and refers to the age of time before the birth of Christ.
redredred · M
@LadyGrace The accepted gospels are the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The gospels are exclusively in the New Testament.

The books you referenced are in the Old Testament and are not gospels.

Not only are you abysmally ignorant about evolution, you don’t know shit about that mass of superstition you call the Bible. You don’t even know your own book.
