Hypocrites

It seems that some people love to boast about how they love the biblical God (they never use his name) and Jesus but they flip out when their hypocrisy is exposed.

A typical case in point =

[removed by staff] Why are you deleting your God's commandments? Do you want to end up in the lake of fire?

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 (ERV) =
Children Who Refuse to Obey
"18 “A man might have a son who is stubborn and refuses to obey. This son does not obey his father or mother. They punish the son, but he still refuses to listen to them. 19 His father and mother must then take him to the leaders of the town at the town meeting place. 20 They must say to the leaders of the town: ‘Our son is stubborn and refuses to obey. He does not do anything we tell him to do. He eats and he drinks too much.’ 21 Then the men in the town must kill the son with stones. By doing this you will remove this evil from your group. Everyone in Israel will hear about this and be afraid."

Exodus 21:15 (NKJV) =
“And he who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

Jesus said that people had to follow all of the commandments, so what is up with the picking and choosing?

Matthew 7:26-27 (NKJV) =26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Jesus was sent to us by His Father, God, to make it possible for us to be forgiven for our many sins and lapses. If we are truly sorry for our sins...REALLY contrite, and if we ask Jesus to intervene with our Father, God, on our behalf, He will. Jesus did not hang out with the pharisees, who thought themselves perfect. He hung out with sinners. If we ask forgiveness, Jesus DOES expect us to stop sinning...but even for repeat offenders, forgiveness is possible with daily contrition.

Jesus came as the lamb of God...the sacrifice that God (Yahweh), made, to make it possible for HIM to forgive us. He cannot forgive us on His own...because He can't allow us to flaunt His laws...but if His beloved son turns to Him, and begs for mercy on our behalf, then we might be forgiven.

@4meAndyou That sounds like the basic story but it is incomplete. The biblical God (about a half dozen of them) were crazy homicidal maniacs who were big on animal sacrifices, That is a primitive belief system.

The Jesus character is depicted as an evil person who was worthy of death under the rules but he gets painted over as a five star saintly person.

The Bible is all about the Jews and what a bad deal they got and how they expect to get to be Boss of the world in the end. It has nothing to do with saving the souls of Gentiles, unless they become slaves to the Jews. That is straight out of the Bible =

Isaiah 14:1-2 (MSG) ="14 1-2 But not so with Jacob. God will have compassion on Jacob. Once again he’ll choose Israel. He’ll establish them in their own country. Outsiders will be attracted and throw their lot in with Jacob. The nations among whom they lived will actually escort them back home, and then Israel will pay them back by making slaves of them, men and women alike, possessing them as slaves in God’s country, capturing those who had captured them, ruling over those who had abused them."

2 Esdras 6:55-59 (CEB) = “I have said all these things before you, Lord, because you have said that you created the oldest age for our sake. 56 You have said that the other nations born of Adam are nothing, that they are like spit, and you have compared their abundance to a drop from a pitcher. 57 But look now, Lord! These nations that are valued as nothing rule over us and devour us, 58 while we, your people, whom you have called your oldest offspring, your one and only child, those who are zealous for you, your dearest ones, are handed over to them. 59 If the world was created for our sake, why don’t we possess our world as an inheritance? How long will this situation last?”

I'm not interested in being anyone's slave for eternity or for a second. So, if a person believes in the Bible as a religion he also believes in all of the gooey parts as well. I know the difference between good and evil and the evil in the Bible corrupts the few good things in it.

@Diotrephes Wow. Amazing how twisted you get with it.

@4meAndyou Why do you deny the written words of the Bible that you claim to believe? If you refuse to believe that why should anyone believe anything in it?

Jesus said that he had only been sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Matthew 15:24 (CEB) = 24 Jesus replied, “I’ve been sent only to the lost sheep, the people of Israel.”

Are you saying that he didn't know what he was saying? Who did he say his Apostles would judge in Matthew 19:28? I don't see one word about Gentiles=
Matthew 19:28 (ERV)= "28 Jesus said to them, “When the time of the new world comes, the Son of Man will sit on his great and glorious throne. And I can promise that you who followed me will sit on twelve thrones, and you will judge the twelve tribes of Israel."

@Diotrephes Yes, of Gentiles too” ( Romans 3:29 ). Jesus was the Jewish Messiah, but He had come to offer salvation to everybody. The Messiah was to be a “light for the Gentiles” ( Isaiah 42:6 ). So call on Jesus, because “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” ( Acts 2:21

@4meAndyou They had to seek new customers because to original targeted customer base wasn't buying what they were selling.

And lines such as Acts 2:21 gave the Crusaders hope when they went off to fight the Muslims in the "Holy Land."
