Are Christians still supposed to keep the Sabbath, nowadays?

As a Christian myself, it's an argument that I wish would be put to rest already.

While I have already proven the fact that we are no longer supposed to keep the Sabbath with Hebrews 9:9-19 and Colossians 2:14-17, (along with the video I posted in here that everyone should watch) I want to mention something else. Observing the sabbath is the gateway drug into accepting whole slew of things, like observing the Torah, Hebrew Roots movement, eating kosher food, until eventually you reach the dark destination: Judaism. The strongest argument these Hebrew roots heretics will throw at you for keeping the Sabbath is, "Well, it's in the ten commandments!" ''

Most people will agree that the Old testament is done away. People fail to understand that the ten commandments actually were the old testament. So, lets look up the 3 references to the times the old testament mentions "The Ten commandments". it is mentioned in Exodus 34:28, Deuteronomy 4:13, and Deuteronomy 10:4.

Deuteronomy 4:13 says, "And he declared unto you HIS COVENANT, which he commanded you to perform, EVEN TEN COMMANDEMENTS; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone."

So, he said even there, which is a restatement. He declared the covenant, even ten commandments. So, the words of the covenant were the ten commandments.

2 Corinthians 3:6-7 says, Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; NOT OF THE LETTER, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, WRITTEN AND ENRGAVEN IN STONES, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; WHICH GLORY WAS TO BE DONE AWAY:"

Let me ask you something: what was it that was written and engraven in stones? The ten commandments.

So, the Bible says that which was engraven in stones, the ten commandments, was to be done away.

Also, remember when Moses took the stone tablets and he broke them. You know what that pictures? That the best man broke the ten commandments. That is why the old covenant is known as the ministration of death,

People say, well that sabbath day, that is apart of the ten commandments. Look, if the law is changed in the new testament, and the Bible says in Hebrews 7:12, "For the priesthood being changed, there is made a necessity a change also of the law."
Then guess what? Something about the ten commandments is going to change too! We do not keep the sabbath day. That is old testament and old covenant and that is NOT commanded in the New Testament!

Hebrews 8:8 says, “For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:”

And so a new covenant means that the stones that were written upon in the old testament that were the old covenant were no longer gonna be the covenant that God would use. God would use a new covenant, not in the letter, but in the spirit!

Now generally speaking, when taking the entire Bible into account, it is quite obvious and self explanatory that we still follow moral laws and that moral laws will always apply (these things will always be wrong and are condemned both in old and new testament all throughout the Bible: Stealing, murder, covetousness, adultery, homosexuality, fornication, not using the Lords name in vain - blasphemy, disobeying parents, worshipping other gods and other things we know to be wrong) but the carnal ordinances (sabbath is one of the carnal ordinances) and things of the like were passed and were merely pictures of things to come, as mentioned in Hebrews 9.

@SW-User I pray hard and obey, please read about the miracles that God did for me when i tithed and keep the sabbath, I just want God to be pleased with me because he died for my sins, its the least I can do. We go to heaven because we are saved, but we have to be obedient to have our prayers answered!

GOD TELLS US IN THE BIBLE.

"“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Josh 1:7

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the LORD Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Malachi 3:10

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Miracle 1
To demonstrate how God has blessed me when I tithe: Here is a story for you. I was young and my husband left me and moved in with a girl down the street. I had two small kids and I cried out to God what can I do to be blessed.
And he showed me the verse in Malachi to tithe, so I gave 10% of my $400 I was making a month at the time. My rent was $550 so I did it on faith because I was going to be super short on rent.
Then a day or so before my rent was due, a lady knocked on my door and said. "I have a gift for you, $22.000 because you gave me a few rides last year to a nursing home." She said "My friend died and he gave me his money in his will, but I don't need it, because I am a millionaire." I could pay my rent. Praise God. He saved me as a little child and I believed in Jesus as Gods Son, but I never knew how important it is to give to God and put him first in everything.

Miracle 2
Another answered prayer was when I was late for work when I was young and drove very fast 80 miles an hour onto a 5 lane freeway packed of cars and had to slam on my brakes because the traffic came to a stop. I couldn't get into the next lane because there was a big truck there so I went spinning around 3 times and yelled "Please don't make me hit anyone God" and my car stopped miraculously exactly parallel less than an inch from the cement divider. The whole freeway stopped for me. I still can't figure how my car didn't hit anyone

Miracle 3 Another miracle was when I worked an hr from my home and wanted to find a job in my profession closer to home. I called my previous supervisor where I had done an internship to ask if he knew anyone hiring! I quit a year before working part time for him because I needed s full time job and none was available. He told me his friend was hiring and called him. His friend called me and said he wanted to interview me because I came with the highest recommendations. I interviewed and he offered me the job. I declined it because I couldn’t pay my bills on the salary he offered. He needed Spanish fluent speakers. But because he had no employees at the time and a lot of work he was willing to hire me even though I wasn’t fluent. But the county couldn’t increase the starting salary so I continued working in my other job for another 2 months. What my boss said when I called back was just miraculous. I called him after a few months to ask if the job was still avsilable. He said yes and no one had called all those months at all so the job was still available and I accepted it. The day after I accepted the job my boss told me that he had so many Spanish speakers call and then he had a full office staff for the company! God held that job for me! I was amazed!

Miracle 4
Another miracle is when I was working for a company and the boss had a problem with me. He had asked me to do something I thought was unethical and I refused, and he asked me to leave. I called a man who had asked me to work with his company on a contract basis a year ago, but he said absolutely, but he had to wait for a go ahead from the landlord to give me an office there. So I tithed on the money I had left that I got from severance pay from my last job and went home to just pray and wait and read my Bible. Well I waited and read for 10 hrs a day for a few months, not applying anywhere else because God told me in my heart not to worry. So he finally called and I moved in to the new office and worked with this company. After a month I had $20 in my account and my rent was due. I told the secretary that I couldn't pay my rent at 5 pm probably, but she said its only 10 am, and the rent is not due until 5 pm so don't worry because we had all prayed at the staff meeting. So I went back in my office. At 3 pm a man called and said that he wanted an appointment. I gave him one at 4 pm, and at 4:50 pm he contracted me to work for him and he gave me a few thousand dollars and I could pay my rent at 5pm. That year God increased my pay from $3000 to over $8000 a month. For some its not much but for me it was a lot!

Miracle 5
Another miracle is when I was in Grad school and was diagnosed with leukemia. I quit school and went back home to just pray, rest, and eat better. I never saw a doctor for a year I just prayed and rested and ate better! I went back a year later and the doctor said that I was healthy!

Miracle 6
Another miracle was when I prayed that my Mom would have peace when she died and then a white dove came to my window a minute later and landed on the grass; and then another one came to my window and flew over my house. She died in peace a couple of days later. I asked all my neighbors if they have ever seen white doves here in this town. They have lived here for 70 years and they said. No never. It was a sign from God he answered my prayer. I also prayed my sister would reach her before she died I knew God would keep her alive until she got there. My sister got to her side and held her hand and a minute later she died! The light shined through the window in her room when she took her last breath.

Miracle 7
When my father was in the hospital sick dying I prayed that he would be alive for me to visit him. I had to work 2 weeks before I could leave. Other family members were there until I got there but he was unconscious the whole time. I new that God would keep him alive until I got there. When I walked in his hospital room he woke up. I held his hand for many days and as we talked and prayed and he said that he believed in God. And then he died! God kept him alive so we could have that time together!

Miracle 8.
Another miracle is when this Corona virus happened. I didn't know if I would lose my job or go broke, so I trusted in the Lord and gave double tithing to show God Im trusting you. I made double ever since. It's amazing how God takes care of us.

Miracle 9.
Another miracle is when God says he takes care of our kids, he means it. I can't believe my daughter never got Corona virus when her husband has it, and they sleep together. He took the long test and it is valid.
There are so many things that happen in my life everyday and I will add more miracles to this post as I remember them and as I see how God takes care of me daily. It's a miracle after miracle.

@Carazaa Romans 14 is talking about Jewish holidays/holy days and festivals, not the Sabbath , and i often use it as a defense for those who wish to celebrate Christmas if they are doing it unto the Lord. But even if it were referencing the Sabbath, this verse would not prove your case. In fact. It does the opposite and many use it to show what I am saying. All this verse proves is that is that those Jewish holy days and festivals are optional and NOT required. Paul makes it very clear: " WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE SOMEONE ELSES SERVANT?......

ONE PERSON CONSIDERS ONE DAY MORE SACRED THAN ANOTHER, ANOTHER CONSIDERS EVERY DAY ALIKE. EACH OF THEM SHOULD BE FULLY CONVINCED IN THEIR OWN MIND."

Also, I pray, fast and obey too btw. Which is why I follow the verses - Hebrews 9:9-19 and Colossians 2:14-17 and THE SCORES OF OTHER SCRIPTURES provided above, all of which you did not respond to btw.

Yes, we are to obey the law and meditate on it day and night. Christ fulfilled much. Many things in the old testament were pictures of things to come. The Sabbath is a picture of salvation. Salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is often compared to rest. Jesus IS our Sabbath rest.
Like I said above, Hebrews 7:12, "For the priesthood being changed, there is made a necessity a CHANGE also of the LAW."

The various elements of the Sabbath symbolized the coming of the Messiah, who would provide a permanent rest for His people. Once again the example of resting from our labors comes into play. With the establishment of the Old Testament Law, the Jews were constantly "laboring" to make themselves acceptable to God. Their labors included trying to obey a myriad of do’s and don’ts of the ceremonial law, the Temple law, the civil law, etc. Of course they couldn’t possibly keep all those laws, so God provided an array of sin offerings and sacrifices so they could come to Him for forgiveness and restore fellowship with Him, but only temporarily. Just as they began their physical labors after a one-day rest, so, too, did they have to continue to offer sacrifices. Hebrews 10:1 tells us that the law "can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship." But these sacrifices were offered in anticipation of the ultimate sacrifice of Christ on the cross, who "after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right of God" (Hebrews 10:12). Just as He rested after performing the ultimate sacrifice, He sat down and rested—ceased from His labor of atonement because there was nothing more to be done, ever. Because of what He did, we no longer have to "labor" in law-keeping in order to be justified in the sight of God. Jesus was sent so that we might rest in God and in what He has provided.

Another element of the Sabbath day rest which God instituted as a foreshadowing of our complete rest in Christ is that He blessed it, sanctified it, and made it holy. Here again we see the symbol of Christ as our Sabbath rest—the holy, perfect Son of God who sanctifies and makes holy all who believe in Him. God sanctified Christ, just as He sanctified the Sabbath day, and sent Him into the world (John 10:36) to be our sacrifice for sin. In Him we find complete rest from the labors of our self-effort, because He alone is holy and righteous. "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). We can now cease from our spiritual labors and rest in Him, not just one day a week, but always.

Jesus can be our Sabbath rest in part because He is "Lord of the Sabbath" (Matthew 12:8). As God incarnate, He decides the true meaning of the Sabbath because He created it, and He is our Sabbath rest in the flesh. When the Pharisees criticized Him for healing on the Sabbath, Jesus reminded them that even they, sinful as they were, would not hesitate to pull a sheep out of a pit on the Sabbath. Because He came to seek and save His sheep who would hear His voice (John 10:3,27) and enter into the Sabbath rest He provided by paying for their sins, He could break the Sabbath rules. He told the Pharisees that people are more important than sheep and the salvation He provided was more important than rules. By saying, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27), Jesus was restating the principle that the Sabbath rest was instituted to relieve man of his labors, just as He came to relieve us of our attempting to achieve salvation by our works. We no longer rest for only one day, but forever cease our laboring to attain God’s favor. Jesus is our rest from works now, just as He is the door to heaven, where we will rest in Him forever.

Hebrews 4is the definitive passage regarding Jesus as our Sabbath rest. The writer to the Hebrews exhorts his readers to “enter in” to the Sabbath rest provided by Christ. After three chapters of telling them that Jesus is superior to the angels and that He is our Apostle and High Priest, he pleads with them to not harden their hearts against Him, as their fathers hardened their hearts against the Lord in the wilderness. Because of their unbelief, God denied that generation access to the holy land, saying, “They shall not enter into My rest” (Hebrews 3:11). In the same way, the writer to the Hebrews begs his readers not to make the same mistake by rejecting God’s Sabbath rest in Jesus Christ. “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience” (Hebrews 4:9–11).

There is no other Sabbath rest besides Jesus. He alone satisfies the requirements of the Law, and He alone provides the sacrifice that atones for sin. He is God’s plan for us to cease from the labor of our own works. We dare not reject this one-and-only Way of salvation (John 14:6). God’s reaction to those who choose to reject His plan is seen inNumbers 15. A man was found gathering sticks on the Sabbath day, in spite of God’s plain commandment to cease from all labor on the Sabbath. This transgression was a known and willful sin, done with unblushing boldness in broad daylight, in open defiance of the divine authority. “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp’” (verse 35). So it will be to all who reject God’s provision for our Sabbath rest in Christ. “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3).

Also, a 10% tithe is not Biblical and let me explain why: In Malachi 3:8-10, it shows you that tithing and offerings was the old testament method of giving under the mosaic law, addressed specifically to the Nation of Israel. The tithe was the tenth that the Jew owed the Lord (see Leviticus 27:30). Tithing is a big thing all around with Christians. The preachers will lay verse 10 on their congregations: "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse" trying to say this is meaning the Local Church, when it is not. These Pastors are not rightly dividing the Word of Truth and comparing scripture with scripture. They are not dispensational, which is a major problem. LOOK what it says in the following verse in 10, "That there may be MEAT in thy house." Do you tithe with meat when the offering plate is passed? The Jews were commanded to tithe cattle, sheep, and goats (Lev 27:32); that was meat "on the hoof." They were to pass those beats under a rod and count out one, two, three, four, five, etc; and the tenth belonged to God (Lev 27:32-33). They were to tithe what they grew in their fields and gardens (Lev 27:30; Deut 14:22); they even tithed their herbs and spices (Matt 23:23).The purpose of that was to feed the Levites who served in the priesthood (Num 18:26-31). The tithes were brought to the temple and stored in chambers called the treasure house" (Neh 10:38) or the treasuries. The chambers stored the excess until the priests needed it (2 chronicles 32:5-11). That is NOT the case in the New Testament. "The collection" is taken up at the local assemblies "for the saints" (1 corinth 16:1), not the priests. You are not under law; you are under grace. There is no hard and fast rule for giving. Read the principles laid down by Paul in 2 Corinth 8:6-7). SO, IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, THE AMOUNT YOU GIVE IS LEFT UP TO YOU; IT IS VOLUNTARY.

And in regards to your miracles. I am glad you experienced them, but you cannot make them your authority and standard. Your miracles or any man's miracles are not my standard or authority. The Bible, the Word of God is my standard and authority. And I have given verse after verse proving what I am saying, when a majority of your response is about miracles.

The Word of God is our standard in all matters of faith and practice, NOT experience.

Romans 14:10
You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister[a]? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.

Jesus wants us to live in peace! So lets do that 🙏

@Carazaa Come on. I know you didn't read everything I wrote. That's not fair. Please read what I wrote. This has nothing to do with not wanting peace. I am merely correcting you. @walabby Did you read the verse before in verse 17 where Jesus says he did not come to destroy the law but to FULFILL. That is a key word here to understand. Firstly, before going further I have to mention that you can't just avoid all of the verses I just provided and everything else I wrote. You didn't comment on anything I wrote. And considering all of the verses I provided prove that we are no longer supposed to observe the Sabbath, you can't think that one verse taken out of context will mean that all of the scores of verses I listed are wrong. No, that's not how exegesis and Biblical interpretation works. Nothing in the Bible contradicts. You are simply misapplying that verse and not understanding it. Let me show you why.

Now, back to the word fulfills. Many things in the old testament were merely pictures of things to come. Jesus Christ did not come to destroy those things but to fulfill them.

For instance, the animal sacrifices were a picture of it foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice of our lamb Jesus Christ, whose blood washed away our sins. Because of this we no longer have to do animal sacrifices. Are you seriously going to sit here and say we still have to do animal sacrifices because of your misapplication of that verse? No, Jesus Christs sacrifice is sufficient and what He did on the cross is how all of our sins have been paid for, to those who believe on Him. The picture of the animal sacrifices have been fulfilled. Henceforth they are no longer necessary.

Same with the Sabbath. The Sabbath was a picture of salvation and that picture was fulfilled. Salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is often compared to rest. Jesus IS our Sabbath rest.

Like I said above, Hebrews 7:12, "For the priesthood being changed, there is made a necessity a CHANGE also of the LAW."
