If the bible is the inerrant word of god, how do Christians reconcile the obvious edits to the word?

Example: Remember that inspiring story about Jesus and the adultress? He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her?
NEVER happened, even in the context of the NT as a true history.
In the oldest Greek manuscripts, this story doesn't appear. It was added in later versions.

What's up with that?

Protestants have justified it by saying that story really happened and we know this because it has ancient origins, God just added it to his book later. Protestants sometimes speak about the Bible like it's a living document which God can add to, much like Americans see the Constitution as a living document which can be amended. Which is ironic, because the Bible itself says that it's a huge sin for anyone to add to it. Kinda funny, since so many people have added to it through the years.
As for Roman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox, they say the Bible is imperfect because it was collected by humans. What really matters to them is tradition. Also funny, because their traditions have changed over the centuries.

Yeah...that does seem pretty contradictory to what the bible itself says in several books.
That's where the Mormons have it all over other Christian sects lol

@Pikachu The Mormons added an entire additional book to the Word. And yet they're still the correct religion in South Park.
@PrincessAwesome

lol i love the Mormons.
Imagine basing your religion on the word of a convicted con-man who definitely found some golden tablets and no you can't see them and kept getting "revelations" from god about how important it was that he have a lot of wives.

@Pikachu God wants me to have a lot of wives. And they have to be young and hot. Hey, I don't make the rules.
@PrincessAwesome
