How to get god to talk to me

What do I need to do? How can I tell? I don’t want my faith to slip more and more as I get older.
Stay in the Word of God, on the straight and narrow spiritual road. You can't go wrong. God is no stranger to us. If you abide in Him, He will abide in you. He's always there, loving and waiting to hear from you. He is always willing that we seek His guidance and will. But be careful of false teachers, the Word says.

Jeremiah 29:13 ~ “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

There's no "special formula" to follow when praying, as one might think. He already knows us, completely, so there's no surprises there. He's always happy when we fellowship with him. He's not interested in "do's and don'ts" fancy empty prayers, or flowery words. He wants to hear you from your heart. Simply go to him in prayer, which is talking to him, as your friend. He's listening. He'll speak to your heart and mind, in your thoughts, guiding you through wisdom, in knowing right from wrong. He'll speak to your heart through thoughts, encouragement, certain doors of opportunity you'll see open for you, or maybe even close, to protect you.

Jesus said if any lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives freely. When you get quiet with God and just talk to Him, he will speak to you in various ways. He will speak to you, through the inspiration and instruction
of the Holy Spirit inside you, and you'll know the Truth, as He reveals it. Especially through reading and studying His Word. The more time you give God, the closer to Him you'll be, and get to know Him better. It's not only about praying, but also listening to His voice of direction and guidance. It is true, that "a week without prayer, makes one WEAK." SPIRITUALLY weak.

And when you don't know what to pray, the Holy Spirit inside you, does pray to the Father on your behalf, when you don't know what to say:

ROMANS 8:26 ~ "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

As long as you allow the Lord to lead you, and follow His right path and guidance, you'll know what God's will is, He won't lead you wrong. When in doubt? Do nothing...and pray. Wait for the answer. You'll know when a choice is right or wrong. This is why God gave man a spiritual conscience. To morally know right from wrong, and if a decision goes against His will or moral standards, against your gut feelings, you'll know it. The Holy Spirit will convict you of it, trying to guide you away from potential danger. And when it doesnt feel right, your spirit does grieve and feel sad, until your life is put back in order. However, problems are not in our life to ever hurt us. They are only a signal that somewhere down the line we've gotten off track, and need to get our life back on track, on the right path, and back in order.

PM me, if you want to discuss it further. 🤗

My wife's nephew and his wife were evangelical Christians. They loved to listen to Christian music on the radio and go to church all the time. In fact the nephew was the program director and morning DJ at the local Christian radio station. Sadly he was struck by cancer. Terrible disease not something I would wish on anyone. The couple continued to be airy about the road ahead of them quite convinced their faith would see them through if they just played a few more Christian songs and said a few more 'Praise the Lords'. Sadly the cancer was much much more difficult to treat. He had to go through chemo then a stem cell transplant then he lost his sight then his back and legs started to cramp up so badly he could hardly work then their van broke down in the middle of nowhere as they were heading to the big city for more medical treatments. Their faith has been sorely tested and thanks be to God they have kept it. It is not the same faith they had going into the cancer and all its horrors but they have a much much much deeper and profound faith in the love of their Lord.
@Carazaa I am suffering alot right now. 😣 I don't like myself right now.

@littlepuppywantanewlife But you are learning and maturing, and becoming humble which is beautiful 🙂
@Carazaa only you think like that. But I have to believe you.
What a wise man you are, to care about this. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing, by the Word of God.

Proverbs 12:15- The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto Godly counsel is wise. Proverbs 11:14 - Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors, there is safety. Proverbs 19:20-21 - Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

However, Matthew 7:15: "Beware of false prophets/teachers, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." Those who teach doctrine other than the gospel of Jesus Christ, is God's warning here.
Sometimes, God talks in actions instead of words.

Even when it seems like you are not getting the answers that you might want to be getting.

@HootyTheNightOwl thank you
@JS1992 Often, it can be easy to let your faith slip because God hasn't hooked you up with that hot girl/guy that you want so bad right now.

It's important to wait and accept that maybe things aren't going your way because God has something better for you just around the corner.

Everything always happens in God's good time so that you can appreciate the good things that He's given to you because you know the bad things that came before.

You are still young yet, so you may not have mastered the art of looking around you for the ways in which God is talking to you through His actions instead of using words.

Closing your eyes and really thinking about your day, looking for the things that God might have placed in your path today might help you to see His actions in your life a little more clearly.

Perhaps God is talking to you when you call, and your faith is not slipping.
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@soar2newhighs I so badly want a message from him but I do feel like it’s slipping a little
@JS1992 who hasn’t felt their faith was slipping away? We tend to wonder and doubt our faith/ beliefs at times, but as long as you’re seeking and questioning as you are doing now, it means you haven’t lost faith nor is it necessarily slipping away.

@soar2newhighs really good point

Your faith will grow stronger as you grow older if you let it. If you try to force God you will lose. You need Him a lot more than He needs you.

When you are saved it is not up to you to stay saved. The Holy Spirit is the one that seals and saves you.
God does the heavy lifting friend.
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@Pfuzylogic I get what you are saying.

@JS1992 God really is in control.

Read your Bible a chapter or two every morning, I do! And I listen to a sermon every night on You tube.

Just listen. Calm your mind and listen to your heart 👍
carpediem · 61-69, M
Try blasphemy. That usually gets His attention.
Go to sleep.

It's easy..talk to your mind and convince yourself you are being talked to. That is essentially what religion is in my view.
