My Bible teaches that it is NOT our choice, but God who chooses who is His. I don't mean this argumentatively. I was just tossing that in there. It's paradoxical because those whom God chooses, believe, and are baptized to represent obedience, death of self and life in Christ anyway! So, if you accept God's gift, and believe, and are baptized, then you are one of the elect whom God chose before time. The result is the same whether you focus on election and predestination or not! 😊

@Oberon1 That's a nice thought. A nice idea. Jeremiah 1:5.

@Oberon1

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

That is not true. The Bible says God so loved the world not God so loved so and so. Salvation is for everyone that believe and accept. God gave us free will for a reason.

@Lichocolati The scriptures are of no private interpretation.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Ephesians 1:5
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

John 15:16
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 6:44
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

@Oberon1 😟 A calvinist... How depressing..
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
@Adstar Sorry about your depression, but "Calvinism" and "Arminianism" are just labels that mean nothing. "The scripture is of no private interpretation."
The eleventh commandment is. "YOU DO TOO KNOW WHAT I MEAN."

@Oberon1 God is long suffering towards us not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance and be saved.. the calvinist cult denies this.. And miss interprets other scriptures in a way denies this and preaches that God created some people to be saved and others he created to to end up in eternal torment in the eternal lake of fire.. I don't know about you but i would hate to be standing before God on the day of judgement to give him an account as to why i believed in such a doctrine..

2 Peter 3: KJV
8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. {9} The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

The scripture is not for private interpretation of calvin and his followers..

@Oberon1 God didn't make us to be robots. Choices matter. God doesn't send people to hell. They go there because in their present state, theirsinskeep them separated from their Holy Heavenly Father, who is so holy, he cannot even look upon sin. If they will just ask Jesus, whom God the Father appointed as Mediator between God and man, to forgive their sins, as they turn away from them to a new life in Christ, their sins can no longer condemn them. They'll be fit for heaven. There's no reason in this world, except for an individual's stubbornness or too much pride, that any have to miss heaven. God has not even asked us to do a single thing, except to trust him and believe He will rescue us [ANY WHO ASK per John 3:16 and 17] from the condemnation SIN placed on them. That's not hard. Jesus never came to condemn, but to save every soul who comes to Him, asking him to do so. Not just SOME.
