Hello, grew up in a Seventh-Day Adventist household here. I am an ex-Christian.
It really depends on the Christian. Many people from the church I attended always told us to be wary of evil spirits and Satan. I would think some Christians believe in ghosts, but more so in evil spirits. My dad believes in evil spirits, and he has told me stories of his own encounters (which idk if I should believe them). He is still freaked out about them to this day.
There is a story in the Bible about a man who was possessed by many evil spirits. You can read about it in Mark 5.
Mark 5:6-13 (New King James Version):
"When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. And he cried out with a loud voice and said, 'What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.'
For He said to him, 'Come out of the man, unclean spirit!' Then He asked him, 'What is your name?'
And he answered, saying, 'My name is Legion; for we are many.' Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.
Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains. So all the demons begged Him, saying, 'Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.' And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea."

I don't know what they believe, but the last one I met here was a hypocrite hiding behind her Christianity to act like a bully.
Fluffybull · F
@SapphicHeart I've known people like that.

@JP1119 @Pfuzylogic so there were people who are able to use necromancy, magic that is disallowed by God? This is confusing ...
JP1119 · 36-40, M
@UnderTheBridge Yeah, God allows you to do all kinds of things he doesn’t want you to do. Murder, lying, cheating, stealing, adultery, etc. it’s called free will.

@UnderTheBridge
That is why I posted the scripture.
Go and check out the Old Testament.
Again the person that used necromancy was not a follower of the Prophets or Jesus.
That is why there is the scripture in Exodus 22:18 “thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” and why the witch was afraid that King Saul would execute her.

Holy Ghost. Whatever that is.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Ever hear of the Holy Ghost
Fluffybull · F
@hippyjoe1955 I'm in Scotland, Protestant Churches here would regard that as very "High Church" aka Church of England which is not all that far in a lot of their rituals from the Catholic Church.

@Fluffybull
There is Low Church and High Church in Church of England.

hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Fluffybull Yes the standard of a Christian Church is belief in the Triune God. Father Son and Holy Ghost (Spirit). Leave out any one of them and the gathering stops being Christian.
JP1119 · 36-40, M
There’s about 2 billion Christians in the world. I think it’s safe to say some do, some don’t.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@underthebridge] personally i think it is more personal beliefs rather than any religious connection
Classified · M
Yes, but maybe more commonly under the name spirit. 🤔
UnderTheBridge · 51-55, M
@Classified aren't the dead supposed to go either heaven or hell? Why are they lingering on earth?
Classified · M
@UnderTheBridge What you say is basically correct. I meant angels or fallen angels. And the Bible says God is Spirit.
Katabasis · 41-45, M
Who knows?
Look in that dusty old book they carry around. See if that has any answers.

What do you mean? They swear by the Holy Ghost, don’t they? 😏
bijouxbroussard · F
The Holy Ghost, I imagine.
Bang5luts · M
It's so funny. A little bit of Christian humor that they get angry about when I say it, Jesus Christ wasn't Christian. He was Jewish. Fact. Not fiction
Bang5luts · M
Holy ones? I think🤔😂🤣
empanadas · 31-35, M
The holy ghost
UnderTheBridge · 51-55, M
@empanadas ghost as in human/animal ghosts
empanadas · 31-35, M
@UnderTheBridge yeah I think that's what they call a spirit.
