I Am Christian (roman Catholic)

This is an interesting read with bible references for praying with the saints. I wouldn't really expect it to overcome the ob<x>jections raised by our non Catholic Christian brothers and sisters though.

Whether the saints are alive or dead is not really the point here. Rather why would I speak to the servant when I can talk to the Master? Especially knowing that the servant has no authority on his/her own except to speak to the Master which I could have done on my own. In my mind its bordering on worshiping the creation instead of the Creator.

Oh, I see. I guess, then you better stop asking your friends, family and others to pray for you, also. They have no authority of their own except to speak to the Master, which you could do on your own. By asking your friends and family and others to pray for you, you are bordering on worshiping the creation instead of the Creator, also.

If only it were as simple as asking a 'dead' saint to pray with me - except you and I both know that isn't the case. The prayer with the 'dead' saint quickly becomes a prayer TO the 'dead' saint. The "Saint ________ please intercede for me" quickly becomes "Saint ______ please grant me".

I respect your perception but please understand that though we may venerate the Saints we never under any circumstances worship them. We pray with the saints and ask them to pray for us. They are already in the presence of God (or Master as you referenced above) and can literally speak directly to him.
HippyJoe
You are right they can and do speak to the Master directly - So can we and AS DO I What's more I encourage everyone who is Christian to also speak to the Master directly. My point is not that you shouldn't ask for the saints' prayers but rather that you don't need to. You are a child of God and you can enter His presence because you are washed in His blood. He wants to hear from you directly because He is the Intercessor.

The saints are not dead they are very much alive and in the presence of God. I've never asked a saint or Our Lady to grant me anything, only to pray for me. I only ask God to grant me the grace to be open to serving him and accepting his will whatever it may be.
HippyJoe
Don't know if you understood my use of quotation marks which I meant to use to differentiate between the saints that now dwell in tents of flesh and those that have graduated.

Please help me to understand, kind sir, the difference between you asking your Christian brothers and sisters to pray with you is different from me asking my Christian brothers and sisters to pray with me. My Christian brothers and sisters are all members of either The Church Militant, The Church Suffering or The Church Triumphant and we all pray together to God.
HippyJoe
Well I suppose it would start with me not asking others for prayer. My prayer life is likely very different than yours. When I pray I don't gather with others. I go to my prayer 'closet' alone and ask Jesus for forgiveness. Then I ask that He wash me with His Blood that I may be clean before Yahweh and that He surround me with His Blood that I may be kept safe while I am in the Spiritual realms. I then shut up and listen to the Eternal Whispers.

HippyJoe, Saints ARE NOT dead. They are alive with God in Heaven.
