So Johnny Depp won…

Amber Heard defamed him….where? The op-ed doesn’t mention him at all? He won all that money because it was implied he abused her.
They’re both vile people, but sorry, this is a powerful, mega rich man who is seen as an excellent actor, who has public opinion on his side. The jury can see this and have bent if not broken the law to find in his favour.
Victims of abuse will be more afraid to speak out now. #MeToo has been set back years.

Nice one, America 😥

What does Depp being rich and powerful or the public siding with him have to do with a circumvention of the law or justice?

You know what was actually a blow to MeToo? Amber Heard's attempt to leverage the movement for her own gain.
The jury found that her thinly veiled accusations of Depp were unsupported by any evidence she could present and are therefor defamatory.

It's women like her who do more damage to the MeToo movement than ANY rich and powerful man. Because every time a woman cries rape when there was no rape or abuse when there was no abuse...THAT makes it less likely that a real victim will be believed. THAT makes a real victim of abuse more afraid to speak out.

So yeah, NICE one America. This time you exposed a a woman who was poison both to her former partner and to victims of abuse everywhere.
