A question about Katie Holmes daughter......

Actress Katie Holmes has raised her only daughter,Suri Cruise,by herself.It is well known that her father,Tom Cruise,has no contact with her and they are essentially estranged.Now that Suri has turned 18,it was been reported that she is signifying the estrangement by changing her last name from Cruise to Noelle,which happens to be her Mom's middle name.Look,I have no issue with her wanting to cut all ties with her Dad;Tom Cruise is a weirdo and her doesn't deserve to be in her life anyway.(What type of man refused to even visit her daughter?)But wouldn't it make more sense for Suri to pick HOLMES as her new last name?Taking your Moms middle name is just strange!
