I need to do penance, because I am GLAD Joe Biden will not be allowed to receive communion. I am ashamed of myself. [I Was Raised Catholic]

30 Bishops of the Catholic church are now working on a document that will clarify what it means to be Catholic.

Those public figures who openly endorse abortion are in violation of the teachings of the Catholic church, and the Catholic Church will eventually have that right out there in writing with the support of 30 Catholic Bishops.

Unless and until these public figures STOP endorsing abortion, it is the HEIGHT of hypocrisy for them to continue receiving communion as though they were part of the body of Christ.

Joe Biden, when asked about this, refuses to comment...says, "That's personal." Noooo, Joe...

It's personal to everyday Catholics, IMO. But if the President of the United States is MODELING support of abortion to the entire world, is it personal any longer? That's the whole POINT, Joe. This is NOT a personal issue for public figures.

And that goes double and triple for Nancy Pelosi who drools on about her "heart of love" and how HOLY she is. NOT.

Jesus, in the New Testament, was upset about the hypocrisy of the Pharisees...so I think it's not without precedent to be upset at the massive hypocrisy of our highest public figures.

I'm an ex catholic and if you are going to call yourself a catholic then you have to BE A CATHOLIC.
I dont really care one way or the other, it's their church and can do as they please. People complaining who are not Catholics or even religious seem silly.

I so agree, 100% 💕🙏

You don't need to do penance. Joe Biden and Pelosi both need to decide between God and man. They support a very sinful agenda.
4meAndyou · F
@Baremine Rejoicing in the punishment of another for their sin and their removal from God is itself a sin...and I am ashamed. Full penance would include sinning no more...and I hope I can hit that bar. And for me, it's a high bar.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@4meAndyou but sinning no more is only accomplished by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and what he did at Calvary. For by grace are ye saved through Faith not of works least any man should boast. And in Revelation there is rejoicing of the punishment of sinful people who chose not to repent. Biden and Pelosi both refuse to repent from their evil agenda.
4meAndyou · F
@Baremine I can only deal with myself, and my own sins. It's very unlikely that the old crocodiles will repent.
Personally, I feel that both Biden and Pelosi should be excommunicated from the church. They have to obey the rules like every other Catholic.
4meAndyou · F
@lifeistoshort I agree with you. I feel the same way...but that is NOT what the church is about anymore. Maybe in the old days, but the church has changed. Every sinner, even Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden, can repent of their sin and return to the church.

But the Church can tell these sinners that they are no longer a part of the body of Christ unless and until they change.

I think this may precipitate a serious food fight within the Catholic church. For good or bad, we'll see.

I'm personally conflicted over the subject, as are probably many Catholics and/or religious people. On one hand, it's the question of where do we draw the line with government control of our behaviors. Do we not have the right to burn our own home down? On the other hand, can the government force us to finance that which we may be fundamentally against? Can a physician or nurse be forced to perform procedures that are in serious conflict with their fundamental beliefs?

Remember how Notre Dame University fawned over Barack Obama? It may be the bishops themselves who get called hypocrites by many within the church.
4meAndyou · F
@Heartlander Celebrities, as we have noticed, are subject to a different set of rules and laws as the little people. What is highly visible is a celebrity protest...so they can get away with almost anything...while regular citizens can be hounded and victimized in the dark.

I applaud the actions of these 30 Bishops, who are finally speaking out, bravely, for the tenets of the Catholic Church. I LOVED the Bishop of San Francisco for his bravery in speaking out. These 30 Bishops are now on my list of personal heroes.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@4meAndyou I understand. But don't expect the whole Catholic world to support them. Even all the world's Catholic bishops may not support them. In one way I like what they are doing, but not because of what it's doing to leftist politicians but for the sake of an internal soul searching of itself.
4meAndyou · F
@Heartlander YES! You understand my point. It is for the SOUL of the church. It is a return to honesty.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Well given they are flouting the Vatican, maybe they can form a new sect. No longer Roman Catholics but the Church of America.

Women's rights are women's rights. God doesn't have a fucking say in it.
4meAndyou · F
@Longpatrol Your use of a filthy expletive in the same sentence as the name of God is horrible and highly offensive.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@4meAndyou Yeah I guess so

I personally hole he leaves the Catholic Church - mostly because the church is a stain on humanity and is responsible for covering up the genocide and rape of the vulnerable in every corner of the world they’ve stuck their sticky fingers. I know many lovey Catholic people, but their church leaders are goons.
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User So were Catholics, Dude. I think we are done here.

@SW-User Thank you..."best comment!" ⭐

@4meAndyou The Catholic church did what all institutions do ... they protected themselves rather than martyr for the sake of moral righteous. I cannot think of any large human institutions, whether government agencies, religions .... whatever ... that won't seek to save face or protect itself as their first line of defense.

Hitler played the world as a fiddle as he methodically traded a sense of security for appeasement. Practically everyone earth took the bait at first, even the Jews. The Dutch sent Jewish refugees back to Germany in the a expectation that Germany wouldn't turn its guns on the Netherlands. Even the US sent Jewish refugees back to Germany. England and France turned their backs on Czechoslovakia, and Stalin made a deal with Hitler.

Jesus was both human and divine. Religions, though they try to speak for God, are human institutions.

This is the true face of the catholic church everyone should distance themselves from it
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Guess he chose the wrong career
4meAndyou · F
@MarineBob Guess he did. But until he became President, and had to satisfy the demands of the woke radical left, he supported the Hyde Amendment which did NOT allow American tax payer money to be used for abortions. NOW democrats have taken down the Hyde Amendment...and ALL Americans are paying for abortions because of Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats, and Joe Biden.
Am glad the Bishops are reuniting with the teachings of Christ.

As to Joe, he is completely inconsistent
4meAndyou · F
@questionWeaver That is so true. I get so angry at the hypocrisy...please don't tell us you are a GOOD Catholic if you support abortion...PLEASE.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@questionWeaver Are the bishops going to deny communion to Republicans who show no concern for the poor? Jesus had a lot to say about that, while saying nothing about abortion.
@Lila15 May peace be with you
Lila15 · 22-25, F
The Vatican has instructed the American bishops to not deny communion to liberal politicians, to avoid giving the impression that the church only cares about abortion and not other issues. For example, the church is also concerned about poverty, wealth inequality, and the environment, which are liberal issues.
@4meAndyou She is a robotic political troll ... just block it
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Lila15 also known as the apostate church. It has completely lost track of what it was commanded to do by God.
4meAndyou · F
@Baremine While there is life, there is hope. I happen to agree with you. They have lost something very, very important...one grain of sand at a time.
Peaches · F
Then he shouldn't be allowed. But look at all the Catholic priests that rape kids...I wouldn't raise my kids there and didn't. Joe may just be as hypocritical as the church is.
