I Hate Retail Job

Recently, I visited the department store I use to work at and chatted with an old employee I use to work with. She told me things that had been going on after I left. Two managers left their jobs. One manager who quit her job did so because she injured a customer's hand with a pen after he called her a ni**er. The customer was upset because an employee told him that these Broncos T'shirts were 50% off, he wanted to speak to a manager about it and when she arrived and told him the shirts weren't on sale that's when he went off on her. My co-worker told me that he was so furious he started calling her all sorts of names from b*tch to ni**ger. This customer then wanted to write to corporate. I guess on how horrible customer service was and asked the manager for a pen and paper, before he was able to give it back, the manager yanked the pen from him which cut his hand. The manager worked at this department store for 14 years. And this is why I am so glad I left my retail job.

sounds like you worked in a very low-end store 😲 I hope you managed to find something more up-market!

@SW-User so what are you doing now? looking around for something new, or just taking a lazy break?
SW-User
@newbie For now taking a lazy break. I am thinking of volunteering though. Just to give me something to do and maybe try to get a job in something that I volunteered in.

@SW-User sounds like a great idea! you seem to be a very caring and giving person 🤗 you're lucky you don't need to earn money so you can take it easy and try to find something you really want to do!

Wise move. With online shopping and increased automation, there aren't going to be many retail jobs in the future.

Sales can be tough. Working in a kitchen is very hard.
