Cool Day Today...

So, I knew for a few months what was gonna go down but, coming to the time, it's still surprising how things turn to reality.

I've worked for the same company, as part of the I.T dept, since I finished schooling. I'd gone to college and got qualifications and was took on at a lower role. Over the last 7-8 years I've worked, alongside gone on various courses and online qualifications, my way up the group (of 8-9 people, depending) to do some Deputising from time to time....

Now, our glorious head of department has been awaiting some major spinal surgery for quite a long time now...at least a year...18 months...

...and he's finally had the say so; he'll be having his surgery next Monday.

As I stated, it's quite major and it's been stated that he'll be out of work and getting himself sorted for the best part of 6-9 months. To that end, I have been awarded the secondment for his position....

Meaning......a pay rise.....more meetings....more phone messages....more emails (my Boss, we had a 'Top Trumps' moment once and he revealed he had an extra 30 emails for than me...a day! Great!!! Not....🙄) and the buck stopping with me....

What it sadly doesn't mean is I get my own desk! Pity, really....

So...quite excited....a little worried on how things will go/getting things right....and I have the support of my fellow workers, so all is good there.

I believe I might even have my own parking space!

Happy days, sweeties!

😘

Congratulations. I hope it all transitions well for you.

I had two separate spine surgeries myself due to an injury as a soldier in the Army, each time I had the surgeries the surgeon told me he would own me for a year each time. Mine was an emergency type to keep from being paralyzed from the waist down the first time, and the second time was fixing and removing some hardware from the first surgery that made it painful and hard to move and walk. I am fine now.

I hope your boss has a better go of it, at least he was not being shot at like me and blown up, right. That is unless you all do not like him? LOL

@WillaKissing Lol! Noooooooo! Think there's a bit of a cage or something around parts of his spine. He's been doing quite well, over the years....thanks to pain meds....but by all accounts he's on less.

He's on crutches, so he says. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Thank you.

Sounds like quite the workload, but hopefully the pay rise makes it all worth it. Congrats! 😄

@Ducky Well, thank you, sweetie....as the boss, after all, I can delegate! ☺️

@SammyJo Oh yes, it's going well thanks, sweetie...well, now that I've taught them that they should just acknowledge me as 'Your Highness'! *Giggles*

Yes, saw him on the Monday. Got him some grapes! He's doing well. More concerned how it was going with me, actually.
