About commuting

I will never accept a job that is more than 20 mins away from where I live. I mean why would you want to waste so much time in a car or on a bus or train or whatever?? That's taking sooo much of your time and you're not getting paid for it. 😒

I wholeheartedly agree.

I buy cars new.
I keep them serviced regularly and replace the tires when the 5y date codes indicate they need to be replaced.
I drive them till the "wheels fall off". Defined by me as "costs more to fix than the Blue Book says they are worth"

Average age of the two vehicles I just sold and replaced: 21 years
Mileage: 119K and 121K
Distance to work: 2 miles for her & I essentially work from home but need to drop stuff at the P.O. = 4 miles round trip for me three times a week.

I cringe when I hear people at get togethers mention that they work in Glendale or Phoenix and do the daily commute from the East Valley. The gas, the wear and tear on the vehicle, the morons in the next lane..... I thank God I have skills and can work from home.
