Would you apply for a new job if it was barely over $200 more per month?

It would be about what I graduated in, but so far I got turned down. 🤷‍♂️

As a graduate (I'm assuming degree or Canadian equivalent) that sounds like a horrifically low amount of money. Is it full time? Isn't there a minimum wage?
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@scooogy $200 for a graduate sounds poor, minimum wage in the UK is £8.21/hr a 40 hr week would give you about £330/ month which is nowhere near to being taxed and this is for people who will be trained on the job ie working in supermarkets etc.

@GeniUs no, I mean the difference actually. In the lower paid job it's about $17/hr a 40 hr week.

@GeniUs I think the poster meant $200 MORE per month than whatever your previous job was paying you.

Sometimes it is not always about the money.
@chrisCA so it's not about money, right?

@chrisCA So the OP has work that might offer him $200 a month in income, does he go for it?

If the new job offered possibilities for advancement, then maybe, but if it's for the money alone, it wouldn't be worth it.
scooogy · 31-35, MVIP
@Ontheroad They say you should go apply for jobs you're not fully qualified for, but that always puts you at risk of being turned down for someone more qualified.

@scooogy That would make sense if you are at a dead end at your current job and are just trying to get out of there regardless of where you end up. Otherwise why apply for more of the same? Job hopping with no plan won't get you anywhere and can in fact look bad on a resume. Have a plan, map out where you want to be in 5 years, 10 years, etc., and then start looking for jobs that will get you where you want to go.

If i was miserable in my current job and felt this new opportunity would be a better fit, for sure. $50 extra a week is not such a small thing either
Depends, would you like the type of work ?
Would you like the people you'de work with?

Sometimes its not just about the money, its about what comes with it:
Location
People
Personal enjoyment
Opportunities
Lifestyle
Etc.

@OogieBoogie I could go for another woman, but I often tell myself it would take me weeks of getting to know her first.
@scooogy id say thats an investment .

Better than wasting time on someone who plays with people .
scooogy · 31-35, MVIP
@OogieBoogie "plays with people" just reminded me of that scene in the first Harry Potter movie with the life sized chess figures 🤣
