What was your first job and did you like it or dislike it?

I don’t want to put hate because hate’s a strong word. Anyways when I was 16 I got my first job and it was a summer job. I worked as a waitress and I sucked at it. It was a tough job and I had to deal with rude customers and them yelling at me. I was told the young people like me I just wanna screw it up. After I finish and picked up my last check I quit. I worked from 7:30am to 3:30pm. Monday - Friday. At least I have some work experience and make my own money because I want to look for a job and get my money instead of asking my parents all the time.

I worked part time as an elementary school, worked in the office and the principal would send me to help the oldest teacher grade papers etc. because she had the most students too. She was my first-grade teacher during the last semester of first grade and I remembered her fondly when we moved away and I went to different schools in different states. In a big way it was a treat for me to be able to go to her classroom as a senior in high school and be able to help her and interact with her. She wore the same perfume she did when I was in first grade and during my school years away I would think of her whenever anyone else wore that perfume. Most of my job included office tasks such as type up things and mimeographing them for the principal to send out to parents or organizing stuff in the office or answering the phone when everyone was away from the office. I stayed busy.

@cherokeepatti oh wow They kept you busy but at least it makes the days go faster

@PetiteJulie01 It was for a business class on-the-job training thing. Some of my friend also got jobs at schools and one got a job and they had two of the working in the junior high school office and she told me from the beginning that out of 3 hours they were usually sitting together chatting at least 2 hours, so it was like they were getting paid to sit around. I told her what all I was doing every day and probably did more in one day that she did in a week, but it wasn’t her fault.

Gathering eggs is a fun job when you are 4 years old. Not so fun when an old broody hen pecks your hand though. That was scary!

@UnderLockDown I had one that was a pet. I do remember how startled I was the first time I was pecked by that old hen. She was just trying to hatch a brood and I was just trying to gather her eggs. I won.
@hippyjoe1955 I have often wondered what it would be like to have a pet chicken. A real pet, that hangs out, and sleeps inside, and learns tricks. 😆 Spoiled, like my cats, and my dogs. I wonder how well developed their interaction would become.

@UnderLockDown We weren't allowed to have pets in the house. No cats or dogs or chickens. The old chicken would run to me the minute I entered her pen and I would pick her up and carry her around under my arm.
Before I went to college I worked at a Restaurant called "Friendly Ice Cream”
It was a good job.People were nice and we had a good time. Tips $$$

Data processing. It was exactly as exciting as it sound lol
We create reports for schools for their inspections. It was really hard bc you had to be really detail oriented and mistakes weren’t tolerated. I left after two years. It was full time and only paid a few hundred a month. That was about 15 ish years ago I think.

@HazyDayz That must be a tough job

I think my first job that wasn’t freelance was working at FedEx loading the trucks. It was good exercise and comparable to live action Tetris. Definitely hard work, but I liked my crew.
I had a job in construction.🛠️ Since then, I've had a few different jobs building different things. I've always had a job making things, even donuts.😋
