Its a facade. Companies only want the appearance of being friendly and of good service to the community. They want you on their side so they can continue to milk you for all your worth. That being said there may be some good companies left but they are very few and far between

They don't care. That's so they have documentation in case your complaint goes viral or something. Never complain through official channels unless you know you were clearly wronged and the company will have no choice but to respond in your favor.
But don't waste your time complaining because their policy dictates you aren't entitled to what you want. They will just ignore you.
If you have something outrageous to report consider putting it on social media on their public facing websites. They may be forced to address it then.

Most reviews are probably written by someone at the company themselves.
The more positive hoping to drum up more business in a free for all world where they're in competition with other businesses.
Negative posts might well be edited to make it look worse for the poster than the company

Do you think they should be legally obligated to respond
