A Subject That Both Mainstream Left & Right Can Agree On

The huge increase in energy bills. These prices do not have to be this high and in the uk another increase in Oct is going to cause unmitigated devastation to the poor and small/medium businesses.

What are peoples ideas about how to tackle this rapacious greed?

It's almost like critically depending on terroristic states for the supply of fuels and thus the production of energy wasn't the smartest move.

This had been called for decades. Nobody cared. We'll care about it now I guess.

@Elessar do you think these price hikes are organic or manipulated?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@gol979 They're private entities, therefore rest assured they'll take the chance to maximize their profits if they can, but regardless the bottom problem is still there.

@Elessar so, what can we do? How do we combat this? I think we can all agree theres no need for the prices to be this high (historical wholesale prices have been more and purchase price lower)

@gol979 Going fully renewable + nuclear and nationalizing?
gol979 · 41-45, M
@Elessar here in uk, nuclear was kyboshed by the coalition. Lib dems said in 2010 that 5 years was too long to wait. Got 5p for plastic carrier bags though. Nick bloody Clegg.

Renewable tax (uk again) is 25%. Its not doing what it says on the tin. Its supposed to be abundant and cheaper.

We cannot wait for new power structures. What can we do? I keep asking because i am unsure

Install log burner and stockpile wood like they are doing in Germany , so I’ve heard @gol979
