Within a minute, I saw several birds land in the alley near my house.

[c=800000]It was really cool. My back porch is just a few feet from an alley that runs behind my house. This morning, I opened my back door and I could hear a cardinal chirping in the tree across the alley. I snapped my fingers a few times and a male dropped from the tree into the alley. Almost immediately, a male Eastern bluebird landed near him, followed several seconds later by a red bellied woodpecker and then a Goldfinch followed by a female Eastern bluebird. All of this happened in about a minute!!! [/c]

That’s quite a diverse group of birds to be in one small area.

It's a bird convention!

[c=800000]Cardinals are here for most of the year, but in the late summer I rarely see any. (I wonder if they migrate to a cooler climate for a few months.) Red bellied woodpeckers are common here during the winter, as are Eastern bluebirds. However, I don't ever remember seeing a Goldfinch until this morning!!!
