I watched him feed himself today. Up until now, the chick has been chasing mum around non stop. Feed me, feed me. Poor mum. As I am watching the chick seemingly taking his first steps at independence, I see another Miner bird building a nest in the same tree this chick came from. I included a couple of photos of the beginning of the base of the nest. Masterpiece in the making. Truely marvelous how precise these little birds are. Sturdy circular base to build the nest upon.
