I visited Sherbrooke Forest today

Within 30 minutes I espied a Superb Lyrebird.
My first such encounter.
The Superb Lyrebird inhabits dense, moist rainforests in southeast Australia and Tasmania.
I came across this one in the Sherbrook Forest in the Dandenong National Park, 40 km southeast of Melbourne, Victoria.
The Superb Lyrebird can mimic most sounds it hears, form chainsaws, dog barks, car engines and local native birds.

Very nice capture! Thank you for sharing!
Incredible! How did you feel, Gus? They are amazing mimics!

Beautiful bird! Those tail feathers almost remind me of a peacock especially the very end where it has a darker pattern.

Interesting misrepresenting fact:

Lyrebirds were thought to be Galliformes (the order containing pheasants, junglefowl, and peacocks) based on appearance alone
They were given names like "native pheasant" and "peacock-wrens"—reflecting the belief they were related to these birds"

Of course they are not now days.
