You're part of a state controlled denomination and you see Christianity as a set of rituals. We get it.
To get saved you need to realise that you have sinned before an infinitely glorious, thrice holy God and nothing you can do by yourself can get you into heaven.
Christ (God the Son) died on the cross and shed his blood on the cross for us and had God's wrath, rightfully meant for us, poured out on him.
If we recognise accepting this is and believing on it is the ONLY way to heaven, we will be saved.
The Gospel message will NEVER be shattered.

Very true even Martin Luther said late in his life. He wanted reforms of the catholic church had he known it would splinter, he would have never done it. The German princes and kings saw his thesis as a way to get away from the church to do their own thing.
ImperialAerosolKidFromEP · 51-55, M
@dale74 he didn't intend for it to be a split, but where did you read that he regretted the Reformation?
BohemianBabe · M
That's why the Reformation was good. It caused a lot more people to start thinking for themselves, which led to a move away from Theocracy and towards Democracy. The Enlightenment absolutely would not have happened without the Reformation.
Sure, the result hasn't been utopia, but the world is much better today than it was during the Middle Ages. Even with the world wars, there has been much less war since the Enlightenment. Westerners born after WWII have experienced an unprecedented period of peace.

Which of the following reformed protestant teachings do you disagree with:
. God has always existed and will always exist.
. God is a Trinity- Father, Son and Holy Spirit
. The Bible is God's inerrant word.
. Christ (God the Son) died on the cross for our sins, God's wrath, rightly meant for us, was poured out on Christ and trusting in that is our ONLY way to heaven.
. Christ was ressurected physically on the third day and now reigns with the Father.
. Christ will return one day to judge the living and the dead.
🤷

@BritishFailedAesthetic Do you understand that you list Catholic beliefs? It is only number three that you dispute with Catholics. The Catholic belief is that there must be the living Tradition and Magisterium of the Church. It is the sola scriptura, sola fide, rejection of sacraments, and belief that saints and Mother Mary should be be venerated that you dislike. The problem for you is that they are all rooted in Christianity.

The protestant movement freed the Holy Bible from the restricted viewership of the evil catholic religion..
Yes many people still went down false paths after the protestant movements move but at lest the Holy Bible is now in the hands of common people who can read it and be moved directly from Gods Holy Spirit.. Yes few people still find the Way of salvation but at lest people can actually pick up a Bible and read the Word of God and those who seek His will with all their hearts and minds will be guided by the Holy Spirit to eternal salvation with the LORD..
While there is one Christian in this world Christianity is not lost.. It is only refined..

@emiliya life is short. Why not enjoy it while you can, instead of lamenting something you can't change and doesn't matter anyway?
emiliya · 22-25, F
@SpudMuffin I wish it were shorter.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@emiliya bloody hell! Why?

We are all children of The Enlightenment. That means we don’t need superstitions and magical thinking to make progress.
ImperialAerosolKidFromEP · 51-55, M
The Reformation shattered the political power of the church. But the thing about that is, there's always been an inverse relationship between the political power of the church and its spiritual power. When Christians were being tortured to death, it couldn't be beat! When it became government, it sure had the power to tell people what to do, except it couldn't tell them to be closer to God.

Protestants are about the self. They do not understand that religion requires communion and preservation of the sacred. Where is their personal faith getting them? They exalt the individual and diminish the Church.
@emiliya Yes, by my posts I'm very unserious.
I wish I was as serious as someone whose profile picture used to show a couple in a doggystyle position.

@BritishFailedAesthetic You are not serious. How can a man who believes Catholic Church does not preach the gospel be serious?
My profile pictures seem to capture your attention. The one you speak of was several months ago, yet it has remained in your brain. Why?

@emiliya Just saying before you call someone else unserious, look at yourself.

Protestant man blocked me. Oh, what shall I do?
Can you imagine being a middle-aged man feeling the need to block a woman in her twenties? He was rattled. He could not handle the things I said and ran away with his tail between his legs. The aging defender of sola scriptura has lost and scurried back into his mouse hole. What will he do now he can no longer ogle my avatars?

@SomeMichGuy The Coptic and Eastern Orthodox Churches are the sister Churches. They do not reject the saints or the sacraments. Protestantism is its own religion. God is not in their house.
“Luther was just a person wanting to keep Rome honest (far better than Henry VIII's motivation for a split with Rome).”
Their motivations were both personal. They were both to do with ego and rebellion. I see little difference between Luther and Henry VIII. Luther abandoned God by leaving the Church, and Henry VIII abandoned God by leaving the Church. Martin wanted a new religion and Henry wanted a new wife.
“and the inexplicable and brazen modification to the fundamental creed by the Roman church had already brought about the huge schism between the Eastern and Roman churches as a fundamental break within "the church".”
Filioque? What of it?
You say a theological dispute is the same as the invention of a new religion. The Protestants reject the Coptic and Eastern Orthodox Churches and the Roman Catholic Church. The theological differences between the former Churches are nothing when we consider the latter Church. Protestantism may as well be Buddhism or Hinduism.
Filioque is not inexplicable or brazen. We can talk more about that if you want.

@emiliya You really don't know your theology.
Protestantism isn't a new religion, and it acknowledges sacraments. Innovations not in the words / teachings of Jesus are typically rejected.
Catholic misreadings of the New Testament have created problems from cherry-picking.
But all you do is try to sow dissent.
Go tell Putin you failed. lol
