Here's what i see as a problem with heaven. Feedback appreciated

So you've made it to heaven. Well done!
But when you get there, you find out that your husband/wife or children or some other person dear to you hasn't made it in.

How do you enjoy paradise knowing that person who is dear to you is suffering?
Or is your memory of that person erased and if it is, would that be a desirable circumstance? Would you want that person you loved to cease to exist for you?

Thoughts?

There in lies the problem with doctrinal teaching. My own personal belief is if we want to know more about what heaven actually is and who is there, the Book of Enoch might be a better source when it comes to the Abrahamic God.

@calicuz Is that book in the Bible?

@tobynshorty While it's mentioned in Jude 1:14-15 it's not a book in the KJV. More of a Jewish book though even they dropped it in 200 CE. Nor is considered apart of the aprocrapha which was removed in 397 CE. Possibly removed during that time, though when exactly is unknown. It could have even been not available by the Catholic Church at all. They just excluded it anyway.

I do believe it's in the Ethiopian Orthodox Bible, but not sure about the Eastern Orthodox.

No, it's not.

@calicuz Enoch has always been a mystery to me

Yes, I haven't read it yet, but his accounts of the stages of the heavens above the ether are interesting.

@calicuz now I have heard of that. I think it was Paul that was mentioned as going to another place in heaven

Revelation is John's vision, but no one knows the true author.

@tobynshorty The Book of Enoch is part of the Biblical canon of the Ethiopian Beta Israel community, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, and the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church. My copy of the New Revised Standard Version has the Apocrypha, but not Enoch. Most Protestant Churches don't recognize any of the Apocrypha. This is why whenever anyone quotes the Bible, you should ask "which one?"

I just picked up a copy of the Hermeneia translation of the Book of Jubilees and am looking forward to reading it. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church also considers this book to be part of the official canon.

That's another problem with the Bible, no one knows who any of the authors are. That's why the Church HAS to tell us it's the "inspired word of God," in order to explain away why they have no idea who wrote any of it.

@calicuz oh they do say that the new testament was written by the apostles according to the new testament books. And that genius was written by Moses. Yet give no proof of such.

@DeWayfarer

Exactly.
