In a museum, an Englishman, a Frenchman and a Soviet-era Russian are admiring a classic painting of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

"Look at how cool, poised and reserved they appear," says the Englishman. "I think Adam and Eve must have been English."

"Non, non, mon ami," says the Frenchman. "Regard their savoir faire, their poise, how comfortable they are with their nudity. Surely, they were French."

"Nyet!" says the Russian. "They have no clothes, no housing, only an apple to eat, and were told they were in Paradise. Surely, they were Soviet Russians."

@Thinkerbell One can't argue with humour

Well...I vacillate quite a bit in that area. Jesus Christ taught us that heaven is WITHIN us. In other words, the kingdom of God exists inside our own consciousness.

And then there is that childhood vision...that teaching, that there will be loads of clouds and angels and relatives who have passed already, coming to greet us.

Which of these is true, I haven't a clue!

@4meAndyou

It’s within us, I’ve gone through it all.

@4meAndyou was that what he meant, or was he alluding to the fact that he was present with them at that moment and he is the king of that realm?

@Dharmamar "Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

"When we parse this verse in the context of Jesus’ teachings, we can appreciate its richness. In the previous verses, the Pharisees were asking Jesus when the kingdom of God would come. They were looking for signs, expecting a physical manifestation of His reign. In Jesus’ reply, He redirected their focus from external expectations to a more profound truth—the presence of the kingdom is spiritual and internal, a realization within each individual.

This internalization of the kingdom challenges us, doesn’t it? It means we cannot passively wait for someone or something to bring us closer to God. Instead, we have a role to play. We participate in God’s kingdom by inviting Him into our lives and allowing His will to shape our thoughts, actions, and relationships. It is through our choices that we manifest His kingdom on Earth, reflecting love, kindness, and grace."

Jesus said it hasn't entered the minds of man what God has in store for them. So all of our concepts are probably wrong.

John wrote in Revelation in the new heaven and on new earth, there would be no more seas (that includes what we call oceans these days), there will be no sun, there will be no moon. But there will be a river flowing from the throne set in the New Jerusalem and on each side of the river are the trees of life. An idea of what the new Earth will look like. Nothing of what this new heaven (meaning universe) will be like but considering the beauty of this one it has to be more grander.

Scripture tells us there will be peace, no pain, no suffering, no weeping, no sadness, no sin and sin is disobedience, and no memory of the things of this old Earth. We will be as one, one mind. Being of one mind, will we have a low degree of telepathy?

I can't imagine

@peterlee I said in Revelation not Mark.

Mark 4:37-41 is about the storm in the sea, meaning Waters.

If you're educated you know words can be used with different meanings.

Just like the word stars in the Bible sometimes means angels as in Revelation and other times it means the lights of the sky.

Are they called homonyms?

@Dharmamar Yes because no one knows what the after life has/doesn't have. It's the great unknown so to me paradise is here and now on Earth

The ability to go anywhere at any point in space and time, at any scale and perceive what is occurring. Go back to the Big Bang and see what happened. See any point in human history. See what an electron cloud looks like around the nucleus of an atom. The ability to ride anyone's mind and simply experience life from their point of view.

@peterlee who are you two tell me to accept a challenge and to even contemplate you know what I have or haven't done, by telling me to do what you think / indicates I haven't? .

If you disagree with Strong's Concordance that sea means water in both Revelation 22 and Mark 4 tell them to accept the challenge and they will find out.
