If you were God, why would you have to create all people with the same attributes? IOWs, why would everyone have to be "real" or have "souls"? The intent could be to test the people who are real and have souls to see if, and how, they respond to "bad" things and if they will do anything to make things better. So, if you are "real" and have a "soul" and you see starving and homeless people, do you do anything to alleviate their suffering? If you see sick people do you do anything to cure them of their illnesses?
BTW, in the biblical version, hell is temporary and everyone makes bail on Judgment Day. Some could even end up in the golden cube while others will be tossed into the lake of fire but no one will spend eternity in hell.
