Every time there is some kind of natural disaster, it’s called an act of god.

@BlueSkyKing it is an act of god

The ancient Greeks used to say what man called luck or fate is an outer manifestation of their inner selves...

I do believe this is a truth in a broad brush statement... People are "lucky" because they observe life and see opportunities others fail to see.... Back to the outer manifestation of their inner selves ;)

i guess it depends upon how one views the word but i think luck is always a blessing from fate or God, even when its bad its not necessarily "bad" it can be a reminder to count what blessings we do have or maybe a reminder to change something we're doing or thinking thats negative...

also- a favorite quote " luck is being prepared for opportunity when it arrives"

As time goes on in the Christian walk you believe less in luck but see God's provision along the way. It won't always be clear at the time or indeed easy situations either but looking back you can see how ones faith is refined along the way.

@Thinkingdeeper well, funny enough, my question is actually about this post, but I sent it in private message

I agree. I believe that the word “Luck” originated from the word “Lucifer”… I believe in blessings.

@hippyjoe1955 yes well sort of, but I see your point. I sid the ethymology nothing else
@gwendolyndecymru The Bible teaches that while "time and chance" happen to everyone (Ecclesiastes 9:11), true control rests with God, not random luck; everything ultimately serves His sovereign purpose for those who love Him (Romans 8:28, Proverbs 16:33). Instead of relying on luck, believers are called to trust God's providence, viewing even "random" events as part of His detailed plan and seeking His will. The Bible often contrasts trusting in a fickle "luck" (like pagan gods of fortune), replacing that with faith in the ever-faithful God.

God is in control of all outcomes, even what seems accidental. God works all circumstances, good or bad, for the ultimate good of His followers.

Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose".

Nothing happens outside of God's awareness; He cares for individuals deeply. Matthew 10:29-31: Even sparrows and hairs on our heads are numbered by God.

The Bible says believers should rely on God's faithfulness, not superstitious notions of luck or fortune. James 1:17: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights". In fact, the Bible warns against seeking favor from "luck" (Hebrew gad), equating it to turning away from the true God. The word "gad" is used in referring to a false god associated with luck or fortune.
None of what we have is luck, according to the Bible. Instead of attributing positive events to "luck," believers give credit to God's blessings, provision, and grace. Purpose, over random chance. The concept of luck is a worldly mindset, while the believers' life is meant to be lived by faith and trust in God's promises and guidance.

@LadyGrace it is true though :)
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@LadyGrace that none of what we have is luck

ALL good things originate with God. IF He chooses to shower us with good things, we call those blessings...because the Hand of God was upon them. 🤍🤍🤍

Luck is when you trip over your own feet and you don't break anything when you land hard.😉
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@4meAndyou which is honestly what I've experienced lately
Luck is not to be a word in the Christian vocabulary!
